Magnetometer (HDG) fails in flight, but works on ground

Dear all, as usual I'm using this forum when I really have no idea what could cause a strange error. Our mangnetometer and thus the HDG of our DA40-180 XLS started to fail for a couple of seconds during flight. The problem worsened over time and now the situations is as follows: - HDG takes a long t...

Re: DA40 Ground Speed Challenge

So 208 knots is the one to beat? I can offer 212 knots, of which I can only proof 211 knots, because that's when I took the photo. 142 knots TAS and 70 knots tailwind on a flight from Frankuft Egelsbach to Berlin Schönhagen. That was back in April 2012 with the beautiful N447DS. https://www.diamonda...

Re: TAS610 not working properly - Replacement?

Dear all,

the avionics shop said they cannot install an TAS610 which was upgraded to the TAS615"A" with the ADS-B in. Does anybody have some experience there? Is this an EASA thing and it works for N-reg?

Re: TAS610 not working properly - Replacement?

Yes, I have also thought about ADS-B. It's not mandatory for aircraft below 5.7 tons and voluntary for GA aircraft, but I think it would make a lot of sense. If the TAS610 needs to be fixed I think this can be upgraded to an "A" version, which uses ADS-B IN in addition ot the Mode C of the...

TAS610 not working properly - Replacement?

Dear Diamond Aviators Friends, the previous owner of my DA40 is having a problem with the TAS610 in his DA42NG and I wanted to support him a little, because he sold me a plane in mint condition while he wasn't so lucky with his new plane :( While most of the problems have been fixed over the recent ...

Re: Power Flow

Why? The AFM states that the maximum allowed continuous RPM of our IO-360M1A is 2,400 rpm. Actually, this was for the original propeller delivered with the DA-40 and is replaced by the POH / AFM / supplement / revision / addendum / etc for the propeller you have on the airplane. The Hartzells (comp...

Re: Power Flow

As one who converted from the original to the PF, I can tell you that SL rate of climb increased by 300-350 FPM and 75% power setting cruise went up by about 6 knots. My plane used to deliver right on book for all power settings. Now it beats book in all realms of flight. The increase in cruise ove...

Re: Power Flow

The test data reflected in the chart do not appear to be independently validated but if we take the chart at face value, the PowerFlow increases HP across the entire usable RPM range. I'm trying to figure out how this can be true, even based on PowerFlow's explanation of how HP is gained. There may...

Hey guys,

could anybody send me a copy of their 337 for the Whelen 71685 installation? Winter is coming quickly and I would love to have them installed as well!

Re: G1000 ENTERTAINMENT INPUTS

Hey :) Thanks for all the hints. I thought about the Bluetooth option with the headset as well, but I'd prefer to have it properly installed in the plane for crew and passengers. So I'd also be interested in how much it was to get it installed to get a rough idea. I wonder if it's also possible with...
