Censoring of Posts

To the moderator that deleted my post critical of DAI - Thank you. Go ahead and delete my account too. Yes, I have been critical of DAI and the promises made and promises broken. So have many others. The lack of support by DAI is why I sold my DA40 share and donated my DA20 to a high school in Flori...

Re: You Know You're a Diamond Pilot When ...

Your DA20-A1 gets orphaned.
Your steam gauge DA40-180 gets orphaned.
Your G1000 DA40-180 avionics get orphaned.
Your "fill in the blank" Diamond gets orphaned.

Loved my Diamonds but I'm so glad to be in the experimental world now.

Flame suit on.

Re: DA40

Let's hope it's a DA40 NG airframe with a Lycoming IO-390.

Re: Removing G1000 from a Da40?

Antoine, Neither the Dynon or G3X are certified for the DA-40 . I did not think the G5 was on the list for primary instruments; therefore you are pursuing an STC, If you are chasing the STC, you may as well start with the most complete and lowest cost solution you can, also both the Dynon and the G...

Re: 200lb Useful Load Increase?

Interesting. During my conversation years ago with Christian Dries at the Katana Kafe in Austria, I had asked about a useful load increase (and changing to an IO-390, as Cirrus did with the SR-20). Aside from his contention that the Avgas market was dead to him, he indicated that even with an IO-390...

Re: Doh!

This happened to Princess Amelia (DA20-A1) prior to when we bought her. Fracture of the welded stud that held on the nose gear assembly. It departed the aircraft on take off and the pilot was unaware until landing. Thanks to the composite prop and the overload clutch of the Rotax 912, there was no d...

Re: Airventure parking DA40

A couple of suggestions about flying in. 1. Read and understand the NOTAM thoroughly. 2. Take a competent safety pilot. The extra set of eyes can be invaluable. 3. Expect the unexpected. The arrival can be chaotic, even dangerous. There are a lot of inexperienced pilots that don't follow the rules a...

Re: ForcedAeroMotive: SuperCharged DA40

Incremental changes, some of which are already delivered in newer DA40's, and a couple were side-effects: - Starter failed - replaced with newer design -2 lb - MLW mod - lighter main gear legs -3 lb - Replaced A600 nav/strobes with Orion LED units -4 lb So 9 lb. reduction with these. They mostly of...

Re: Nanny autopilots

The Boeing 737 Max MCAS is a whole different animal. It was installed as a "patch" for a handling quality issue at high AOA and high power. Stick force gradients are spelled out in FAR Part 25 and my understanding is that the Max was quite different in this corner of the envelope vs the earlier 737 ...

Re: DA50 base MSRP Guesstimate

Understood. Having flown both, I would agree - the handling qualities of the DA40 are far superior. The Cirrus is a better performer though and the support is much better (just look at the petition on the G1000). Hope you have better luck than some of us on support and upgrades.
