Re: DA40 Jack Pads

The jack pad is: https://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/topages/bogertjacks3.php I use it with a cheap rolling floor jack (I think it was this one): https://www.harborfreight.com/2-ton-compact-trolley-jack-64874.html It doesn't really work with a bottle jack because as you lift the strut and the wei...

Re: DA40 Jack Pads

Have also used the Bogert jack pad for years now with a cheap floor jack, and has worked great. Much easier that wing jacks.

Re: Jeppen vs. Garmin nav data

Giving a PIREP on the Garmin nav data after flying with it for about a month, switching from a previous lifetime of Jepp data. The data works perfectly, no issues yet. Obviously cheaper. The private airports now show up on the MFD map and info, whereas with Jepp they were not included. The Localizer...

Re: Inexpensive DIY solution to GTX345R Bluetooth problem - with pics

I finally did the Bluetooth fix using the micro-antenna above, a 3 meter SMA RP cord, the 9 dBi Amazon antenna, and an appropriate adapter, all purchased from Amazon Prime. I ended up attaching the long antenna via small zip ties to the cargo net holder, and a tiny piece of safety wire I made into a...

Re: Inexpensive DIY solution to GTX345R Bluetooth problem - with pics

Anyone see any problem using this antenna https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B076SGTMFS/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 instead of the Microchip brand one suggested above? It needs a different adapter, but otherwise looks pretty similar, and available on Amazon prime. The only signif...

Re: Inexpensive DIY solution to GTX345R Bluetooth problem - with pics

Thanks Adam. My reason for thinking the pilot side would be better is that I typically load of my luggage in the forward part of the right side first, with typically less on the left side, where I keep my chocks, etc., and a big bag on the front right would totally block the antenna.

Re: Inexpensive DIY solution to GTX345R Bluetooth problem - with pics

Adam, did you also RTV the mini antenna to the transponder? I am a bit concerned that if you do such, and ever need to repair/swap the transponder, Garmin may have an issue taking it as a swap with a mucked up / tampered with, sticker there. Probably a non-issue, but you never know. Also, why is eve...

Re: Drain or vent line connection

It doesn't actually "drain" anything for the AGM batteries, just hooks to a dummy post.

Re: new Slick mag service bulletin - failing distributor gear

Does anyone actually have firsthand knowledge of a distributor gear failure? The Slick folks won't quote numbers for failure rate, just that it was high for the initial date range in the MSB, and not so high for the expanded date range in the amended MSB.
