Re: Flap issue now!

My flaps have started to fail intermittently. Sometimes they ignore the switch, either going up or down. I'll cycle it up and down a couple of times and it eventually works. I was going to just have the panel switch replaced but apparently that can't be done without a couple of service bulletins for...

Re: Help with alert: AHRS1 SRVC magnetic-field model needs service?

Which database needs to be updated? Apparently the Nav Data for the 530/430 is not it. I replaced the steam gauges with the Garmin G500 and I wonder if that could complicate this issue.

Re: ADS-B Install Experience

I have a 2003 DA40 with the steam gauges replaced by Garmin G500. I've been considering various solutions for the ADS-B to include the GDL 84 or attempting to swap out my GTX 327 transponder for a Garmin 345 or another ADS-B capable transponder. All of the transponder options I have seen are an inch...

Re: Very Cold Start

Why not get a small gasoline generator? With the excess capacity you could also use a forced air electric heater hooked up to a duct to blow warm air up the cowling. Yep. I've done that too on my Dakota with 1,350 lb useful and a roomy storage area. The forced air heater really speeds up the warmin...

Re: Starter problem - AOG

For my aircraft, 149-24LS is the standard model. This is Sky-Tecs PMA listing for the LS model starters. http://skytecair.com/images/PMA/PMASupplement1.pdf If you want go go that way, I would recommend contacting Sky-Tec and discussing you situation. Send your Sky-Tec serial number with your email ...

Re: Starter problem - AOG

I believe that the 149-24LS is the stock starter Gary. You can see Sky-Tec's replacement chart here. http://www.skytecair.com/fit_guide.pdf For what its worth, I elected to replace my fried starter with the same model. It was easier at the time and I was in a jamb. If I had it to do over, I would t...

Re: Starter problem - AOG

I did some research and found that the Sky-Tec 149-24LS is an approved starter for the DA40. Does anybody have experience swapping the stock part for one of these? If so how do they compare?

Re: Starter problem - AOG

I have decided to replace my 12 year 1,400 hour old starter to avoid getting stranded. What are the options and the advantages of the different available starters? Cost is not an issue.

Re: Green Seats

Beautiful result and a great option for those with discolored seats as long as there is a local shop as good as yours. But don't knock the sheepskin seat covers from Rocky Mountain Sheepskin Co. They make the seats much more comfortable and the mushroom color goes well with my interior. http://www.r...
