Flight recording with the G1000
Hi Dan! Many years since I’ve posted here. Used to participate a lot when I was flying a DA40 and DA42. Recently have been renting a DA40ng and am trying to remember the data card process, for recording the flights, so I can import them to Google Earth later at home. (Pics attached) My simple questi...

Re: Flying Videos
Mount your GoPro clear case directly to your suction cup and clamp down hard. The ball socket is your problem. If that's not an option on the ram mount, try GoPro's suction cup, single bolt connection between the two. This set up even films smoothly on the outside of the cockpit, or so I hear. :oops...

Re: Flying Videos
Well...flew VFR from Charlotte to Ft. Lauderdale...spent about two hours off the Atlantic Coast of Florida at pretty low altitude. Debated what to do with the flight footage, as I know some will not approve. Here is a quick video of 205mph over the Atlantic. Flying the DA42, really my only concern w...

Re: Latest (2012) Nall Report
After reading The Killing Zone the stat that my brother and I really wanted to see was "hours in the last 90 days in type." It looks like it is often really low. Read that book very early on after obtaining my PP. Was flying my DA40 multiple times per week, so the 90 day thing didn't cros...

Re: ECU failure...with video
Hi Eric, As you know, I am an "ECU Failure" expert. The first thing I noticed from the video was that the engines were out of sync during the entire video. Were you flying with props out of sync on purpose, or did the failure occur before the video started? If the props were out of sync b...

Re: ECU failure...with video
I also noticed the difference in fuel temps. What were the other temps? As I have posted earlier, I have been experiences a 10 degree difference myself. Jon My right engine always has slightly higher fuel temps, as well as oil pressure/temp. In the video, as you noticed, the left fuel temp is quite...

Re: ECU failure...with video
Eric, would you mind uploading this to the reports section and share it? It would be interesting to see how it looks like there. edit: Thought the card was in the plane, but then found it in my flight bag. :D You can see all kinds of spikes at the 2:45 mark. Engine%pwr, Fuel Flow, and RPM are the b...

ECU failure...with video
Got an ECU failure last week, which I forgot to post up here, due to a family reunion that started the next day. 11 people in our house all week. I happened to have a go pro running, so have a look. cg2gsAIeBm4 I was cruising at 15,500 msl. The failure happens about 6 seconds into the video,...
