Re: Fuel sensor contamination?

I spoke with Diamond support and he told me the sensor will short if it's submerged in water. Just in case it didn't short out, he's sending me the electrical specs so I can test the sensor. He also doesn't understand how that much water could be in the tank and not seen on a sample. I expect a heft...

Re: Fuel sensor contamination?

Summary: Two weeks ago we drained 2.5 tubes of water from the right tank of my DA40. Today a persistent red X showed up on the right tank fuel level indicator. It goes into the maint shop tomorrow; I'll recommend they try to clean the sensor before jumping to replace it. Details: On the morning of S...

Re: Lithium Backup Battery Pack

I just found out (literally the day after I purchased and received a new replacement battery pack) that we don't necessarily need to follow the 2 year replacement rule. Chapter 4 of Rev. 7 of the DA40 AMM now states: Component: Emergency battery Replace all cells at the same time. All cells must hav...

Re: Non-WAAS G1000 -- ADS-B Future

G1000's started being delivered on DA40s in model year 2004. It is my understanding the first DA40 with G1000 was somewhere near SN 400. (I have a 2004, SN 40.454, with G1000/KAP140)

Re: How about a Diamond fly in

Count me in.... It's about a 20 minute flight for me. I'm at N14 in South Jersey. (I assume when you say Wildwood you mean Cape May County Airport, KWWD...?)

Diamond List Price Sheet

It's a year old, but I found this list price sheet interesting. (Not sure if someone else already posted it. A search came back negative.)

Re: Finished the Bahamas Challenge in My DA40

Doug, I uploaded my flight records to the REPORTS section above. They begin at #5250. I don't know if there is a way for you to sort/isolate my uploads, but my UID is gandalfim if that helps. Eric, I'll have to think about where my favorite/avoid places are. Off the top of my head, I'd say Long Isla...

Finished the Bahamas Challenge in My DA40

Hi All, Back in November I completed the 2013 Bahamas Pilot Challenge in my DA40. Trip details: 3000 km, 21 airports (US and Bahamas), 9 islands, 8 days. (We made it all the way down to Inagua and could see Cuba while on approach.) For those who would worry about flying single engine over the ocean,...

Re: Experience with Bruce's Custom Covers vs. Kennon

I've used both Kennon and Bruce on my DA40. I had the Kennon for almost five years, then the edges started fraying so I decided to try Bruce. I've had the Bruce for about two years and the issues I have with it are: that it allows more water to soak through, it seems to hold the water and algea is g...

Re: KAP140 coupled approach question

Another thing to keep in mind is to notify ATC you're on a coupled approach. That will require that they vector you two miles beyond the approach gate. (the approach gate is 1 mile outside the FAF.) This will give you and the AP more time/space to slide in under the glideslope and begin the descent....
