Re: Squawk Change

It’s actually quite easy to do. On your PFD press TMR/REF. That will open the Timer/Reference window. Turn the outer FMS knob to highlight your Flight ID, then use the inner and outer FMS knobs to change your call sign, making sure that you use your individuality assigned Compassion number. When do...

Re: Looking to purchase DA62

Any feedback from those on this forum (present and past owners would be greatly appreciated as we are looking for an airplane that is enjoyable to fly on a regular basis and not just pretty to look at. I had posted my experiences earlier here: https://www.diamondaviators.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1...

Re: Weather Radar or Satellite link?

Thanks John! You're right, you can't get turbulence detection in the DA62 because it requires a 12" dish or greater. However, I have a Phenom 100EV on order that does have the 12" dish and the option for turbulence detection. Thankfully, I got Embraer to throw that in on the deal, I wasn't...

Re: Deice low pressure light

My system responds just like John mentions above. I keep my aircraft in a heated hangar and I think that has a lot to do with the low pressure warnings. Switching to a higher flow setting seems to make it go out. Also, if my system hasn't been run for awhile, I make sure to activate it long before I...

Re: Low gearbox oil level

After my 300 hour oil replacement, my DA62 right engine came out of the shop with me being able to see only the smallest amount of air at the top of the window. Over the next 50 hours it slowly crept down to where it was just a bit below the center dot. I had my mechanic check to make sure there wer...

Re: Weather Radar or Satellite link?

If I have the option, I will even navigate around "green" radar returns (supposedly lighter precip) when flying in the intertropical convergence zone. Yellow and red returns are bad anywhere in the world, but are incredibly NASTY in the ICZ! John, does the equipment you fly have turbulenc...

Re: Shortest Field You Are Comfortable Taking Your '62 Into?

- Remaining engine .................... 95% load I should see about +190fpm rate of climb! One point on the 95% power rating, I know that if I had an engine failure right after TO, I would not be too concerned about prolonging the time at 100% until after I felt that I was adequately clear of terra...

Re: Shortest Field You Are Comfortable Taking Your '62 Into?

I'm kind of surprised. I did my PPL training at KSQL which is 2,600' and was serviced by part 135 Pilatus's and home to several part 91 King Air. Is that really outside the comfort range of the DA62? I'm not challenging anyone's flying decisions, just trying to understand the comfort zone for the D...

Re: Shortest Field You Are Comfortable Taking Your '62 Into?

Last week, with tower telling me to head straight to the numbers (I actually love it when that happens) and a regional jet behind me confirming with tower that they were really cleared to land with that twin Diamond in front of them, I turned off at the 2000' mark without feeling that I hit the brak...

Diamond Service Delays

I'm working on my second year with my DA62 right now and I can report that I am not happy with Diamond after sale service. I flew my aircraft to London for its annual assuming those guys should know how to get it done better than anyone as well as resolve a few warranty issues. I was happy with the ...
