Re: Outdated Garmin G1000 software - petition sign-up

Haven’t read all the posts but has anyone contacted MTSU? They have a large Diamond fleet. Or Utah State?

Re: So you think you want an E-AB ...

The Glasair Sportsman is a great airplane. I came really close after learning about the two week to taxi program they have. For those who criticize E-AB, I think you might see the Sportman in a certified version before too long. I doubt it will be fundamentally different than the E-AB version... Lan...

Re: So you think you want an E-AB ...

Don't be so quick to judge E-AB aircraft. I have owned three Diamonds - a DA20-A1 and two DA40-180's. Great airplanes, very safe, nice handling qualities. Downside is limited performance (especially the DA20), really expensive parts, limited to non-existent support from the manufacturer (again, espe...

Re: Pres-to-Test GEN/CANOPY Light STUCK

It's a Cutler-Hammer/Eaton switch P/N 206K11810D0202S. Appears to be available from several sources for around $50 US.

I'm sure you can get it from Diamond for 3-4 times as much if you like ;)

Re: DA40 NG Anomaly

The terminology used on the G1000 is somewhat misleading. An ECU failure is not what it says it is. Basically an ECU fail warning is a caution that the ECU sensors have detected an anomaly, in this case low manifold pressure. Both the Austro and TAE powered DA40 will generally be able to maintain a...

Re: DA40 NG Anomaly

Agree on the reliability of the IO-360-M1B. I've had two DA40's. My neighbors DA40 has about 3500 hours on the original engine, still good compression, not making metal, good boroscope. Hard to beat that. I think Diamond made a huge mistake hanging that cast iron MB engine on the front of a previous...

Re: Fuel injector SB (Austro MSB-E4-025)

I assume it would only be legal to do so if Diamond or Austro publishes the part number - and that part number is the Mercedes part number. If it's an Austro part number, my understanding of the legalities is you must purchase the identical part number, even if it's just a Mercedes part that Austro ...

Re: More Horsepower

Diamond should build an IO-390 DA40-215 with the higher gross weight of the DA40NG.

Now that Christian Dries is gone, maybe there is hope. On the other hand, Diamond won't even provide upgraded G1000 software for older planes, so I wouldn't hold my breath.

Re: Buying a DA-20

The Rotax engines have been given a bad rap. I've had an A1 for over 10 years and the Rotax has been really reliable. It starts quickly hot or cold and we plan 4.5 GPH on auto gas. The airframe is certified for 100LL, mogas or a combination. So with $2.25 per gallon mogas (today's price) versus $4.2...
