Re: DA20-A1 battery low volts after 6 months

Unless there is a PMA'd battery or there is another battery specified in the IPC, I believe the answer is no.

Re: How do I upgrade 912 80hp to 912 100 hp

Unfortunately the ULS is not a certified engine and can't be used on a K100 conversion - unless you want to convert your airplane to Experimental category.

Re: Pilot performance ups and downs

Hope you bring your DA40 down to CCO. It will be right at home with Falcon Aviation Academy and their fleet of Diamonds of various flavors. Maybe I can talk you into a ride? I miss our DA40 sometimes and really liked the way it flew. I'll trade you a ride in my RV-7A.

Re: Mini Dart

Not certified, but an RV-7A has two seats, is aerobatic and can be IFR certified. You can get (or build your own) for less than $150K. Many have the bulletproof Lycoming IO-360-M1B (virtually identical to the DA40 M1A).

Re: High CHT and EGT on one cylinder

If you are running ROP and you have both high CHT and EGT, you might have a clogged injector.

Re: Wheel Bearing Grease Question

Keith- why do you say AeroShell 5 is an obsolete choice? Still readily available and does not separate in warm temps. It is what I have always used. The "obsolete" in the AMM only refers to the MIL-G-3545 spec. You are correct. The Mil-spec is obsolete, not the grease. However, it is no longer used...

Re: Wheel Bearing Grease Question

If you are asking if automotive wheel bearing grease will perform properly in this application - then the answer is probably yes, depending on the grease used. If you are asking if it's permissible to use automotive grease in this application - then I believe the answer is no. From the DA40 AMM - CA...

Re: Oil Pressure Sender

According to the IPC for the C1, the gauge and sender are from: Forster Instruments Ltd. 7141 Edwards Blvd. Mississauga, Ontario Canada L5S 1Z2 Tel: 905-795-0555 FAX: 905-795-0570 They are a VDO distributor, so I suspect that the pressure sensor is a standard VDO sender. If it were me, I would get t...

Re: Landing Flaps on Base or Final?

Or in a jet on final approach, you have an obstructed runway or need to go around. Throttle forward and climb. You do NOT touch flaps, or anything, usually until 500ft AGL or 1000ft AGL. Interesting comment. On the 737 I fly (for over 20 years now) go-arounds always call for a flap retraction. For ...

Re: Garbage in - Garbage out

In the US Experimental-Amateur Built world, the "Manufacturer" is the person who built it. So even though you built a Van RV whatever, the builder is listed as the manufacturer, not Vans. Precisely. My RV-7A is registered as an "Ellis RV-7A". I will forever be the manufacturer of record. It's why t...
