Re: What tug to get?

Jeremy- My DA40 used to live in one of the north condo hangers at JYO. I used (and still use) a Minimax Tug -- https://www.flyboyaccessories.com/product-p/7107.htm

MSB for 2017-19 fuel tank connection hoses

Anyone with a DA40 who had their fuel tank connection hoses replaced recently might want to look at this new MSB. Apparently Diamond will "credit" you for parts and labor. http://support.diamond-air.at/fileadmin/uploads/files/after_sales_support/DA40-180/Service_Bulletins/SB40-087-M-1-Replacement-of...

Re: Garmin G5 installed

That's good news for those of us with older DA40s. Were you required to keep your old AI as part of the 337 approval or was that optional? Thanks.

Re: Avionics upgrade and edm 900 location.

I would put it vertical in the space above where it is now. That way you're not looking as far down for RPM/MP at key moments, especially on an approach.

Re: GNS 530W repair

How does the screen look? Were there any upgrades to the software? I'm thinking about doing the same with mine although for now the anti-glare film makes it bearable.

Re: Exhaust valve problem options

We did the re-check and as Bret predicted the valve guide is now very wobbly and low compression has returned. We’re going to pull the cylinder. Any experience with re-build vs Lycoming vs Superior vs ECI? Thanks. Bernie

Re: The next stuff

The Garmin G5 AML was revised on July 19. It now includes the DA40 BUT ONLY FOR VFR AIRCRAFT without lightning protection as noted in footnote 6. The DA40 is the only aircraft subject to this. Even the Cirrus can now use the G5. Very frustrating. See http://static.garmin.com/pumac/sa01818wi_1907.pdf

Re: The next stuff

Spoke with the Aerovonics guy at Oshkosh. Told me the DA40 was on the AV-30 AML list they submitted to the FAA for the STC certified version. Here’s hoping. Played with the unit a little. Believe it will be a good replacement. Was told to submit my $100 deposit soonest as they currently have a six m...
