Re: DA40NG N907L forced landing on a highway
Warning - thread drift... The non-accident failure that we'd also like to know more about is the double engine failure of the DA62 in Dallas that landed on a highway. We have theorized extensively, but to my knowledge we've never gotten a definitive answer. That one has an NTSB number (CEN23LA014),...

Re: Rocky Mountain Airport pre-buy. Need a mechanic
Scott, it looks like you (or perhaps the plane) are located at CYBW/Springbank Airport, just west of Calgary, Alberta (i.e., not KBDR in Connecticut). If you're open to paying travel expenses, contact a Diamond Authorized Service Center in the US. They will likely charge you their "day rate,&qu...

Re: Left alternator failed
I was seeing 28 volts and current flowing with only the left engine on. That's very puzzling. I don't understand why you'd have an alternator fail message with 28V and current being produced by the LH alternator with the RH engine not operating. Your service center needs to address this with Diamon...

Re: Left alternator failed
The CAS system (G1000 NXI) primarily assesses alternator functionality through its separate current sensor in parallel with the current sensor used by the alternator regulator. (Below from AMM 24-30-00, page 2.) Screenshot 2023-12-13 at 1.21.38 PM.png It would be helpful to know the electrical readi...

Perhaps you are considering AirSync . It's not cheap @ $800+ to install at at least $200/year subscription (per their website, not including any seasonal promotions). I use a regular SDcard in the MFD and the SDcard to iPhone (or iPad) adapter ($29/lightning; $39/USB-C) with my cellular connection (...

Re: Annual frustration
The devil's in the details of the findings and associated repair costs (parts & labor). Don's suggestion of Savvy makes sense for a 2003-vintage, steam gauge, Lycoming-powered plane like yours. My last annual (DA40NG) labor cost was a fixed rate of $3,300. Owner-assisted annuals can undoubtedly ...

Re: noob Q about 07 da-42 on controller
Mike, the KAP140 is supported by Cessna/Garmin with the legacy-generation GIA63W (referenced in the documentation links above). It is not supported with the NXI-generation GIA64. Cessna supports the KAP140 only for its 2017-era legacy/NXI hybrid solution. Whether or not one considers this generation...

Re: G1000 Components under back luggage compartment.
Here are a couple of photos for you. These are from a 2008 DA40-XLS, which is very similar your plane. Depending on which G1000 options you have installed, there could be differences.

Re: Diamond Aircraft Owners Survey
If you haven't completed the survey, perhaps take some time over the weekend to do so. Thanks to those of you who have completed the survey!
