There is a path from legacy G1000 to G1000 NXI through Diamond's Factory Maintenance Rebuilt program. The older airplane is stripped and remanufactured with current production engines and avionics. If your airport has shade hangars, these provide the best of both worlds. Your plane and its interior are protected from the midday sun and bad weather (esp. hail). It is never exposed to greater than ambient temperature (no "hot box"). You have nearly zero risk of door or side hangar rash...
