Re: Exhaust Valves and Exhaust Risers
Found this article from Mike Busch, published nearly a decade ago. Still very relevant. Apparently there is a part two to this article that discusses borescopes but I have not been able to google it. However, more recently, Mike Busch published an article in AOPA that discusses borescopes. Since you...

Re: Exhaust Valves and Exhaust Risers
Also agree with DragonFly. I've now done two cylinders where the exhaust valve lost its ability to firmly seat and pass a static compression check. One fail was a "0/80" - the other was "40/80." In both cases my EDM-900 data showed the CHTs, EGTs on all cylinders were fine, devel...

Re: ADSB Out Recommendations
There is a "Mute" button on my panel that squashes the announcement if needed. I do use it for taxi and/or running around the pattern with others.

Re: BluLink
Copy that. I just flew up north last week in a bit of turbulence - "north" being Huntsville Alabama for this FL guy. Turns out, my iPad music has the added bonus of dampering turbulent transits. As I learned, a little bit of cockpit dancing goes a long way in countering the bumps in a ligh...

Re: ADSB Out Recommendations
I've said it before but I'll just re-mention it again - one of the best features of my Garmin GDL-84 is the aural call-outs into the planes communication system. I understand that finding that low-cost solution is part of the ADS-B analysis but I feel this single feature is something worth keeping i...

Re: Wing Removal
Can you reach and rotate each bearing? Just like those two sealed bearings on the NLG of my DA-20, I could rotate them by hand and feel any "grittiness" as they moved. When I replaced my wheel bearings - the new bearings were "smooth as silk." For those rollers, you could just mo...

Re: Flaps circuit breaker pops
Thanks for the SB reference - I took my a/c to a Diamond Service for my annual this year so I had not trolled for any new SB's in 2018 or this year. I'll certainly wait until I have a problem/reason before I jump on this one. However, it is nice to know that Diamond has a solution, albeit an expensi...

Re: BluLink
Foreflight has music? Now that is a version I don't have! I have a Lightspeed headset that Bluetooth's to my iPad or iPhone. With Foreflight running, I'll get audio callouts. I also have a Bluetooth link to a Garmin Flight Stream that connects to a GDL-84 ADS-B unit. That link gives me traffic displ...

Re: Flaps circuit breaker pops
Only Flap issue I had with my DA-20 was a micro-switch that did not work correctly. Trouble shooting guide identified the problem and a new switch fixed the problem. Chapter 27-50 for the DA-20-C1 was very helpful for me. AMM Troubleshooting guide lists about six possible causes/repairs if flap circ...

Re: How to value a DA20
Savvy Aviation is Mike Busch's outfit. I have an annual subscription with them so I download all my EDM-900 data to their website. If I have a question or worry about something I submit a ticket so they look at the data and provide recommendations to me. Their website mentions doing pre-buys. https:...
