Re: Safety: Piper Mirage

Yikes, this is really scary, Karl! Thanks for being so outspoken. I think the PA46-350 is inherently more dangerous than less complex aircraft. The problem lies in the domino effect. One failure causes another. Example: lose the engine at FL200 and your first challenge is not the engine but pressuri...

Re: AE330 180hp DA42 STC

Dear Neema, this idea would have gotten me really excited before I took the exotic route. Meanwhile, I have jumped boats and was able to measure the value of incremental and costly changes to an existing aircraft vs sell and go a different route. From my only flights in the DA42 NG and DA 62, I thin...

Re: Intermittent AHRS fail

It can't be a G1000 Rich, this is a DA20... maybe G500? My experience with electronics issues is that you start by tracing the wiring and doing a cleanup of all contacts. I use a product called "Stabilant" that was purchased from a NYC sound studio (!) based upon a recommendation by a fell...

Re: Interior - leather on seats

Arnaud this thread is going to cost you a lot of money :) If you can afford a full refurbishment, I would do it because your current interior looks dated. A beautiful leather interior will definitely make you very happy AND pay for itself the day you move on. Important: make sure you comply with the...

Re: What comes after a DA40?

Thanks Bernie. This did not improve.... I have learnt the hard way that it is a bad idea to arrive or depart VFR from Geneva. The wait on departure is typically 10-20 minutes, you rarely can arrive without holding and on one occasion, as I was in short final, they ordered me to go around to make roo...

Re: What comes after a DA40?

I have been too busy to install an outboard camera, but here's some footage from our latest flight into Geneva. It should also give some insight on the workflow during a high speed arrival on a busy airport. https://youtu.be/KyxAK7bpnLg Makes me very grateful to live in such a beautiful part of the ...

Re: The 1,000 Pound 1,000 Mile Challenge

Dunno why but I need O2 as low as 8000 ft... Back to the topic: my experience of flying with PAX is that a 3.5 hour leg is about as much as you can stretch it. Expecting anything beyond that from the aircraft is justifiable for fuel reserve purposes but would not be a use case that can be sustained ...
