DIY (owner-assist) Remote Oxygen Tank with Pics

Prompted by the recent DA42 O2D2 oxygen thread ( link ), here is a remote O2 tank installation in our DA40. I stole this idea from someone on DAN, but don't recall the guilty party. ;) Secure the AL-647 tank to the netting mounts in the baggage area: https://i.imgur.com/d6iUhxwl.jpg ...and route the...

Re: Corked Nose Wheel

I just removed my trim tab altogether when I added the fin, and that was perfect for my plane. My IA was uncomfortable with removing the tab altogether since control surfaces are sometimes quite sensitive to seemingly minor weight changes. Probably not an issue, but... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ So we just fabricat...

Re: CHT Temp Variations

Maximizing fuel flow and carefully eliminating *all* baffle leaks are crucial steps to controlling CHT.
Enabling faster climb rates at relatively low IAS while keeping the cylinders attached. ;)

Re: G1000 Data Logging

Low capacity SanDisk SD cards are getting scarce, while microSD SanDisk variants are still widely available. But probably not for long. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ For logging, I switched to a SanDisk microSD with an adapter, which works great. The adapter is easy to replace, usually no extra charge, and should be av...

Re: Magnetos

For dissimilar materials where vibration resistance (not raw strength) is the primary goal I would probably use RTV.

Re: Inexpensive DIY solution to GTX345R Bluetooth problem - with pics

With the mini-wipe antenna, how would you place it against the G345R surface, same as the micro-chip antenna? Could you send a picture with the mini-wipe antenna installed? Thanks. For mounting the mini-whip antenna, see the post on page 2: https://www.diamondaviators.net/forum/viewtopic.php?p=7418...

Aviation Consumer's November 2019 issue ( link to abbreviated introduction ) includes a lengthy article by Paul Millner (retired Chevron chemical engineer) about the history & chemistry of the Lycoming anti-wear additives, including Phillips Victory oil. He follows-up in the March 2020 issue add...

Re: Yet another fuel pump failure on 2003 DA 40

Has anyone here that installed the Weldon pump had an increase in radio RF noise when the pump is running? With the Dukes pump I had no noise. With the Weldon I have enough noise to break squelch on Com 1. It is very irritating and we can't seem to make it go away. FWIW, a sudden increase in RF noi...

You should also experience a noticeable climb rate increase with the Power Flow exhaust.
