No kidding. Awesome city planning! :(
If you are near KTRM, drop by - we have space in our hangar and you can check out Palm Springs.
Thank you! I may take you up on your offer!

Re: Engine Missing below 1400RPM

Don't forget to curse loudly and use the strongest language directed toward the mixture control and fuel servo! This assists the aircraft in understanding you are serious about mixture adjustment. ROFL... This is a most-excellent thread, but it is drifting - a lot... 8) Antoine or Rick - Would you ...

Re: LED replacements for interior "map" lights?

They aren't super bright BUT they are bright enough. I'm not complaining about the brightness of the stock bulbs. But LEDs should draw less current (important if you accidentally leave one switched on) and last essentially forever. I am also curious if switching some or all of the lights to red LED...

LED replacements for interior "map" lights?

Back in 2011, Gary mentioned that he'd swapped his incandescent bulbs for LEDs. http://www.diamondaviators.net/forum/24v-cockpit-power-outlet-gotcha-t3510.html?hilit=power%20outlet Unfortunately, in a recent PM he indicated that the LEDs are not very bright. Unlike Gary, of course! :P Fortunately LE...

Re: Tips for XC from KRUQ (NC) => KAPA (CO) => KRHV (CA) ??

We had to unexpectedly divert there for summer thunderstorms We got trapped in Flagstaff for a major-league thunderstorm show. Surrounded on all sides. but were very pleasantly surprised at what we found spending the night. Upon arriving at the airport, it was recommended that we call the Plaza Hot...

Re: Tips for XC from KRUQ (NC) => KAPA (CO) => KRHV (CA) ??

Are you sure you want to fly back to San Jose via KAPA? I wouldn't be interested in crossing the Rockies in the winter west of the Denver area due to altitude, winter headwinds and weather -- at least not without de-ice, a turbo, and O2 onboard. A wintertime (and even summer) recommendation would b...

Not too far out of the way is my home base...KSIK. Not a lot here, but we are known as the "Home of the Throwed Rolls." Lambert's Cafe will send a shuttle over to pick you up and you get to go to the front of a usually very long line. They have good lunch or supper. Country cooking. This ...

Tips for XC from KRUQ (NC) => KAPA (CO) => KRHV (CA) ??

Next week I intercept my shiny "new" steed at KRUQ in North Carolina. After Glenn finishes the annual inspection and mods, I'll leisurely fly back to KRHV in San Jose CA. I'm not likely to get this far east again for a while, and am looking for some particularly fun or interesting stops al...

Re: ForcedAeroMotive: SuperCharged DA40

What are the concerns or considerations of the extra torque and other stresses on the composite airframe (if any)? None. This is a "normalizing" supercharger. IOW, all this provides is "normal" sea-level performance at up to ~7000'. Do not confuse this with blowers used in autom...

Re: ForcedAeroMotive: SuperCharged DA40

When is the supercharger available? Not announced. Call Rod if you want the latest info. But with the FAA involved, nobody really knows for certain. What are the concerns or considerations of the extra torque and other stresses on the composite airframe (if any)? None. This is a "normalizing&q...
