Re: Tachometer going crazy

I had the tachometer replaced on my DA20-C1 1999 as part of the prepurchase inspection as its readings were out of the allowable tolerance as per the maintenance manual. Part number: SL1010-55003-13-N00 Other data applicable: FAA TSO C49b & SAE AS 404B Manufactured by Superior Labs inc., Hot Spr...

Diamond community

I just love the DA20-C1 I recently purchased. I can see myself upgrading to an IFR platform, maybe a DA-40, in a few years. I would assume Diamond's best prospect buyers would be current owners of Diamond aircraft wanting to upgrade. I was surprised Diamond does not actively encourage their website'...

Re: ADS-B Install Experience

Even 4000$ is a lot of money for people owning C150s and such. As a canadian, I will have to equip with ADS-B out for the few times a year I visit the U.S. (Lake Placid, NY is a wonderful place and really close to my home airport). I wish there was a cheaper solution out there. Maybe there will soon.

Re: COM reception problems

Hi Larry, First of all, I am not an expert at all in avionics. Kindly take my advice below with a grain of salt. Yes, my problem went away. I sprayed the contacts on the back of the radio including the radio connectors with electrical contact cleaner spray. And I also sprayed the female contacts tha...

Re: New to Diamond

Looking calm and organized will make a very good first impression on the examiner. Make sure your radio calls are sharp, and practice diverting to an airport of his choice quickly (or at least head to it) without fumbling with the map, etc. During the checkride, when you look at an instrument or whe...

Re: Market value?

Hello Soarer, I am no expert in A1s, but since nobody so far has replied, here are my two cents. Only a few hundred A1s were built and are registered in North America. While a fantastic little aircraft, it is relatively unknown, and therefore not sought after by many prospective buyers. Just like se...

Re: Is Partial Panel still relevant?

My DA20-C1 has steam gauges. In the past, while flying a rentsl DA20, I've had the AI die on one occasion. Not a big deal when you can see the horizon outside. The problem would be to belueve a faulty instrument while fying in the soup. On another occasion, maybe in 2004, the pitot was partially blo...
