Re: Austro AE300 Engine Discussion

At 1,050 hours my left engine needed the starter replaced. It was not an in-flight failure, obviously. It was $1,200 parts and labor.

That looks fantastic. Although the image size is a little small. Please send the full-sized image to my email below. I even think the backup instruments look better than more glass.

Re: Rear door won't lock

My mechanic said that at the flight school they replace two locks a year. Even when locked, you can pull on them, and if you pull hard enough they just come open, but it can break the lock.

They are nicer on the DA62.

Re: PPL in Da-40 Canada?

Since the Diamond factory is located and London, Ontario and they have a related flight training operation I am not sure why you wouldn't be able to. You could call them to check. They probably have a DA40 they'd like to sell you.

Re: ECU Failure Messages – Seattle Area Shops?

Cary, Do you know Paul Walton, sometimes out of KEYE? You are correct, it was not. Although my FIRST ECU failure was a cam sensor failure that showed up (obviously erroneously) at cruise over KPRB at 9,500 totally static throttle etc. Sorry for the reporting delay. I am in Manhattan now, having trav...

Re: ECU Failure Messages – Seattle Area Shops?

Okay. Well, I will be making a short 40 minute hop to the maintenance facility, but it will be after an extended runup. I'll be focused for the takeoff and if I lose the engine on the way there I will continue... just slower. Seattle seems to be peppered with airports, so there are a lot of places t...

Re: ECU Failure Messages – Seattle Area Shops?

update: Found Shawn Quinn at Clay Lacy. He's been a Theilert tech for a while and I got his name from Galvin. He'll look at it on Monday morning. (I guess that sets my schedule for crossing the country...)
