Re: cowling heat paint

I don't see the cooling baffles having a part in this. It looks to me like combustion gases ejecting from the exhaust system impinging on this area of the cowling. You really need to closely examine the exhaust system.

Re: cowling heat paint

This looks like more than just damage to the paint. What does the outside look like? Does the plane have a Powerflow exhaust system?

Arnaud.
Yes, but its positioning doesn't present a problem.

Re: oil getting into the fuel?

Is the gascolator as easy to access as the one of the wings on your plane? Mine have a deflector that is blocking my little tool to drain. Using a tester like this should present no problem: https://www.amazon.com/Aviall-Aircraft-Fuel-Tester/dp/B003VSCGD2/ref=asc_df_B003VSCGD2/?tag=hyprod-20&li...

Re: oil getting into the fuel?

A cup seems far more than the volume of the gascolator and the associated fuel lines. Did you check fuel from both tanks? I, too, have a hard time immediately buying into the fuel pump theory but don't have an alternative hypothesis. Gasoline mixes quite readily with oil (witness two-stroke engines)...

Re: Brake pad life

If you're just changing brake pads, it can be done without removing wheels or putting the plane on jacks. Though I can't speak to the speed-gear fairings, for our old fat-tire planes the wheel fairings need not be removed. Hi Rich: If you are referring to my statement about the wheels coming off fo...

Re: Path to ADS-B & WAAS for older DA40s

I *love* the flight plan transfer feature to iPad finally enabled on my G1000 NXi with FS510 card. Every time I get vectored by ATC and turn the heading knob to a new course, it automatically shows up on my iPad. Use of the iPad for entering flight plan changes literally makes the expensive keypad ...

Thanks
Not fully closed i.e. open a little bit, as with normal starting. BTW, when the throttle is pushed full forward there is extra fuel enrichment added.

In WOT position.
When it fires, from WOT to idle quickly
I don't use WOT. Just the normal 1/2" or so cracked throttle.
