Re: No plans for Diamond GFC 500 autopilot?
As noted, it really is two separate situations -- round dial with KAP140 and G1000 with KAP140. As Emir notes, for the later, Diamond/Garmin's solution is the GFC700. I think Garmin is more receptive to the round dial community with regard to the GFC 500.

Re: No plans for Diamond GFC 500 autopilot?
At Oshkosh this week, I spoke with Joe Megna, Garmin's head of GFC500/600 autopilot certification. He told me that lightning protection was no longer an issue if we used the GI-275 to drive the autopilot. According to him, they are meeting soon to decide on the next group of aircraft to work on. (Th...

Re: A very big deal -- FAA Approves G100UL for ALL GA piston spark-ignition aircraft
So I learned at Oshkosh why GAMI is not considered the universal solution. The issue is that GAMI uses the STC process, which allegedly is not available to experimental aircraft, particularly warbirds. According to GAMI there are ways around that, but so far no progress bridging the gap. Possibly a ...

OAM 40-109a
I'm about to purchase a Hartzell Composite Prop but want to make sure all my I's are dotted and T's crossed. The installation instructions state that Diamond OAM 40-109a "Improvement of Engine Cooling" is required. Does anyone know what this optional modification is? Is it the Arizona Baff...

I also recently bought the no-drilled version for a similar amount since I don't have the fairings. The receipt lists it as D41-3223-10-00-ASY

Re: Corked Nose Wheel
No difference. The maximum tension is set in the DA40 AMM. Flew again today with GoPro. Still straight. Took off on the opposite runway. Still a small sample size, of course, but I'm pleased.

Re: Corked Nose Wheel
I took a different approach to this problem. A while back I replaced the bearings in the NLG and tightened the gear to the maximum. I haven't been able to "see" whether it works until today when I borrowed my brother's GoPro. For at least today's flight the nose wheel was straight. The pla...
