Re: Beige Interieur Leather

I was wondering if the unit was not fully serviceable but maybe it's the limitations of the system and the small vents for the size of the cabin. It's a pity since it's expensive and one is lumping around a third alternator ontop of system weight. There are a few usability tricks with the a/c you c...

Re: DA62 NXi Pending Approvals

Hm... things like checklist are so trivial that I can’t believe any kind of certification is required when added to SW. There is for sure certification required. But Garmin has certification evidence for this feature from other aircrafts. Once it is done for Cirrus, Cessna, Piper or others it shoul...

Re: DA 42 electrical circuit structure / redundancy

I‘m pretty sure the single red master switch is a certification requirement that you can remove power from the cockpit with a single switch in case of a fire/smoke. This does not include the ecus since they are not located in the cockpit. So you have a full redundancy on every part of the system to ...

Re: DA62 NXi Pending Approvals

:< Very minor differences are animation of NEXRAD weather on the MFD, and split-screen MFD for simultaneous display of charts and flight plans. This again seems to be so arbitrary! Split screen and Nexrad are pure software features! As some intern just forgot to activate it at the right time in the ...

Re: DA62 NXi Pending Approvals

Thanks! Too bad they didn’t use this as a chance to activate those features. Especially checklists seem to be easy. They are working with the G1000 legacy even in DA40. Also visual approaches should already be „certified“ with other aircrafts and have no hardware dependency as far as I know. This mi...

Re: DA62 NXi Pending Approvals

This is great news! I hope I can get the software update and the 345R soon as well!

What about the missing features on the G1000Nxi. Are any of them now included? Like SurfaceWatch, Visual Approaches, Checklists...

Re: Pitot Failure use Pitch & Power for TAS?

Especially with a Diamond I would use GS+Wind estimate + gust factor from the Tower +5kt safety margin and fly 90 calculated AS over the numbers on a long runway and let it float until it settles down. If the runway is not long enough (<1500m for a DA40), rather with with 75% power to an alternate w...

Re: Sum Breaker Values >> 70 amp alternator rating?

Even though it is not completely wrong, it is also not completely right either. Usually you would rate the fuse of a device by knowing the normal power and peak power consumption and adding some buffer for the fuse/circuit braker. Therefore it is fair to assume that some device with a 20A fuse needs...

Re: Potential New DA62 Owner

Colin, As far as I know there are only two DA62 configurations in the market: G1000 legacy and G1000Nxi Phase I. The G1000 legacy seems to have some minor software issues and hardware bugs of early airframe builds, so the newer aircrafts with NXI make most sense anyway. But those are all upgradable ...
