Re: You Know You're a Diamond Pilot When ...

I really enjoy Diamond Aviators Net because you see issues from multiple perspectives. Here are the my Hangar Talking truths as I see. DAI builds really nice airplanes. Perfect? No, but they have also built a fairly loyal customer base which is a testament to their quality aircraft. Yes, it is in th...

Re: How to value a DA20

There are a few DA-20s out there with a STEC-30 autopilot - mine is one. So it can be done - it was a factory install. If you look at Chapter 22 of the DA-20 integrated parts catalog (IPC) you will see the installation outlined. I'm not sure how many parts are obtainable and/or custom-Diamond. I hav...

Re: Plane pulls to the right

No direct experience with the "pulling to the right" issue you mention, but I have helped my A&P do the aileron deflection checks in paragraph 06-00-00 of the AMM, and complete the test and adjustment troubleshooting procedures in chapter 27-10. Chapter 57-60 has more aileron maintenan...

one into the Pacific approaching the shore on a low IFR approach after a long day into Crescent City Interestingly, that fatal Diamond accident was a rental plane out of my home airport. The FBO operator (previous one, not the current FBO) had recently purchased it and the person renting it decided...

Re: Engine failure best glide speed descent rate

Decision-making might not be my strong- suit.... or maybe I'll be just a little more serious. So I essentially do the same glide slope math when I fly over Lake Okeechobee down here in Florida when my daughter was away at college and VFR-Direct was directly over the lake. Altitude was definitely my ...

Re: Engine failure best glide speed descent rate

If you fly over Lake Michigan at 100 ft, it won't help the glide distance, but it does make the math easier... :D

Re: alternate air in visible moisture

Believe everyone is tracking “as identified in your POH” as the correct answer. There are multitude of variables in chemistry and engineering which we all trust has been tested in our certified aircraft. The best and right answer should be reflected in our POH. Per the “why” behind the "visible...

Re: A&P/IA Recommendation Seattle/North

I'm in Florida so obviously I can't speak to a local A&P but without having any good leads I would start my search here: https://www.diamondaircraft.com/en/service-and-support/service-center-locations/ In the Seattle area, looks like one Service Center south of the border - one north of the bord...

Re: Landing gear vibration

Pascal, That NLG shimmy can be any one of a few things, or a combination of several. I've done this dance with my 1999 DA-20 on several occasions. I do have a few previous posts from those events. https://www.diamondaviators.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=5434#p58829 Per my recollection, here wer...
