Re: landing gear lights
As far as I remember, the red light would be on if the gear is neither up nor down. But don't know whether that means that if just one wheel is in that state, that light comes on. I've had the same problem a few years ago, and (probably like what you did) pressed the test button, and there was the f...

Re: Transitioning to DA42 questions
It is going to be a disappointment... You will never have seen such a flat curve in your life ;) Especially if you already know the G1000 it's a non-event. Compared to any other twin, the DA42 is a lot easier to handle on a single-engine. No serious yaw, and simple engine/feathering management. Norm...

Re: Your guesstimate: TKS for DA40
Interesting poll. It would certainly increase the useability of the DA40. As to the consequences of adding it to the airframe: 1. Some loss of luggage space, assuming the only way to put the tank would be in the bag compartment 2. Weight of an empty system approx. 17 kg. TKS fluid about 1.1 kg/liter...

Re: FUEL TEMP Warning
Yes, this looks like a sensor problem to me, although obviously not a completely failed sensor. Good thing you did a cross-feed and waited to see what that would bring. The actual fuel temp on the ride side will have dropped a lot more than what the sensor finally read, 46 degrees. It should have re...

http://support.diamond-air.at/fileadmin/uploads/files/after_sales_support/DA62/Airplane_Flight_Manual/Basic_Manual/70125e-r3-complete.pdf Page 5-50 gives you the OEI climb performance at MTOM (2300kg). As in any twin, a limited climb, but still in the positive in the the most common scenarios. If yo...

You could ask this fellow on the Isle of Man for a test flight.

Well, this one seems a bit more friendly than a V1
It used to bring spies back home to mommy, so that's ok..

Re: What comes after a DA40? (the reply)
I may have expressed myself wrongly.
I still need all the runway i need and just thought that you would find 300 m boring
Just out of interest, a gyrocopter needing so much runway for take off?
I flew one recently, an ELA, 2 heavy men, full fuel and we needed less than 100 m IIRC
