Re: Dukes Fuel Pump Drip
Keith, Glad I could help. My only hindsight is the fact that the highest reading my IO-240B at full power was around 20psi so most of the 60psi gauge is not used (and the reported accuracy only at 1psi vice a half so that was my one compromise from the SID specs). But I am a private owner with only ...

Re: DA20 crashed near Egelsbach, Germany
My sympathy goes out to the families. As a DA-20 flyer myself, this is the second fatal outcome (fairly recently) I have seen for a decision to use a railway track in an off-field landing. This is something I have been thinking about since I have a railway track near my home airport and have made a ...

Re: nose wheel turns left after take off
Cranking up the "stiffness" of the nose wheel will increase the wear on the nose wheel for ground ops. I recommend keeping the stiffness within spec but I would only focus on the "shimmy antics" of the nose wheel when landing when tweaking that setting. One nose wheel, although s...

Re: Dukes Fuel Pump Drip
I completed the fuel testing per the SID 97-3F. The hook-up to the fuel system was very straight forward - turns out I only needed one P/N MS51523-B4 swivel tee to hook up the two test gauges as I was able to attach one gauge to an existing t-connector that had one port capped off. Simply removed th...

Re: Dukes Fuel Pump Drip
I believe the boost pump is operating to spec. I have a Vision Microsystems Engine Monitoring System in my DA-20 and can read the fuel pressure directly from its display. If I just watch the display after turning on the boost pump, before I start the engine it reports 3 psi - which is the exact spec...

Re: Dukes Fuel Pump Drip
Keith, Good feedback - here is where I am at. The Dukes fuel pump makes a dramatic impact to fuel system pressure and it is used during the two most critical phases of flight - takeoff and landing. So why would I not record fuel pressures with and without the Duke's pump turned on? Continental's M6 ...

Re: World's Best Pilot
Nice forward slip to landing! Helps when you can turn your entire wing into flaps... Thanks for passing along the video.
