Re: Oxygen Concentrator
Any comments on how "noisy" the Inogen device is when running? Noticable with headset on? Thanks!

Re: ILS and LPV for supplemental visual approach guidance
Scott, thanks! You are correct, you have to activate the post-FAF leg you're going to intercept and be within about 3.5 miles cross-track error of the intercept before the GP will show up. I tested this on the Garmin G1000 PC trainer, and will also flight check it next time I'm flying. Great to do ...

Re: DA42 v DA62 Training Options
I owned a DA42 prior to the DA62 -
Like Ultra said - not much difference in the operation of the 62 vs 42-VI.
Since you said insurance isn't an "issue", train in either!

Re: GWX70 Weather Radar
The best advice is to play with "tilt" on each flight based on your cruise altitude. The more you use it, the better you will become using it! I fly "large aircraft" for a living (as does ultraturtle) - Each radar has its own "personality". Consciously using "tilt&...

Re: Oil consumption
I've seen the same results as Nigel.
I keep the level at the 1/2 way point and maybe add 1/2 - 3/4 liters over 100 hours (per engine)

Re: GWX70 Weather Radar
That "checklist" is the "Psuedo-official" one from Diamond Austria. I don't think they even include it with the plane. There is nothing in the AFM (pages 4A-22 through 27), normal procedures, about the WX radar or RACC!! AFM leaves a lot to be desired!! The flow from the "ye...

Re: DA42-VI vs DA62 Performance
Originally that was the case for the DA62 (and I think the DA42-VI had similar restrictions originally) until TKS and FIKI were approved. There is a supplement to the AFM that shows FIKI is approved now. I think it was approved in mid 2016. Here's the linkfor the AFM supplement - http://support.diam...

Re: GWX70 Weather Radar
I finally found the standby reference for the WX radar being in "standby" prior taxi - This does not appear to be mentioned in the AFM!!?? Pg 310 and 311 of the Garmin G1000 manual talks about using "standby" on the ground - specifically - CAUTION: In Standby mode, the antenna is...

Re: GWX70 Weather Radar
Glad the info helps Chris.
One more thing to remember - put the radar in "standby" before taxiing! I don't think it's mentioned anywhere in the "AFM."
Stops the dish from "bouncing around" in the nose.
