Re: 2200 or 2400 cruise

RPM and heat are related. More combustion events for the same HP equals more heat. Higher RPMs spend more time rubbing parts together so there is more mechanical drag. Most noticeable in the oil temps. Lower RPM at the same HP% can be done more efficiently especially LOP In loiter mode at 2000 rpm a...

Re: Questions from ADS-B install procrastinator - TailBeacon?

If this helps anyone....

I paid 4988 for the GTX-345R, about 1000 for the combo GPS/COM antenna, and was charged 24 hours for the install. Even still, I think 24 hours is very generous except that I had installed the antenna myself.

Weather Station

We just got Wifi at our little airfield. Got to wondering what cool things could be done with wifi besides heater control and security. Thought it would be cool to have some sort of weather reporting. Their are a host of personal weather stations available but it would be nice to know if there is fo...

Re: Radio issue: constantly transmitting

Both radios in TX at the same time or when you switched between radios. Did you try changing headsets? Could be a short on the key wire in the mic plug of the headset. Do you have the same issue it you plug into the right and use the right key button?

DA40: Main Landing Gear Struts (18mm)

[Update: struts have been sold] These 18mm struts were removed this month to make way for the upgrade to the Tall MLG. I am very happy with the upgrade and wish I had done it sooner. That being said these struts would be a very economical way for those early DA40's to be eligible to increase your M...

For Sale: Supercharged DA40

Hi All, I just posted for sale on Controller.com my DA40 (might take a day or so for it to show up). It was a very tough decision deciding between keeping this DA40 or the Sportsman which has stood in the gap while the supercharger STC was being done. Now that I've had the DA40 back for a bit, done ...

Re: "taller" Landing gear

Yes, I too did the nose elastomer pack a few years ago. It raised my nose and lowered the the tail. Peter, you must have the tall gear to be getting 25.2" at the skid. I have the same now after the installing this gear strut. How do you like that composite prop? How much larger is the diameter?

Re: ADSB upgrade issues....

Sounds like what they did for me. I have yet to experiment with mine as well. Would enjoy hearing any issues or lessons learned from you as you get to know your system. Nick, I flew some today and played with the ADS-B. Traffic shows up with N-numbers and Altitudes on the dedicated G1000 traffic sc...
