Tempe, AZ area airports
Look for advice from people native to the area. I will be flying to ASU frequently from Las Vegas, and wondering what the ideal stop would be considering car rental ease, fly-in and parking ease, and road traffic/distance to ASU. I have been to most of the places except FFZ and IWA. SDL is the short...

Re: Intermittent Alternator CAS Warning
+1 on the brushes. I had the same random nanosecond warning pop up for a few weeks occasionally before I could actually tell what it said. Replaced the brushes and cured. One of the 2 brushes was almost totally worn out and stuck back in the hole a bit. https://www.diamondaviators.net/forum/viewtopi...

Re: Canopy Latch gas strut
I had an inspiration today about these latches... considering the hassle they are, shouldn't we consider trying to make them last as long as possible. I am not sure if the logic is correct, but it seems as though limiting the cycles of the compression gas spring would slow the eventual wear. My thou...

Re: Canopy Latch gas strut
Part 2, the passenger door: After all my woes with the canopy latch, I really wanted to just take the passenger door off to easily get the area, but was dissuaded by some Diamond mechanics from doing such, as getting it back on and aligned is evidently a bit tricky. The good news is that it was way ...

Re: Paper for AFM Updates?
I really like the idea of removing my crumbling AFM from the plane, and as stated above, it seems perfectly fine to have a digital version of the AFM along with scanned copies of all the airplane specific pages. My question is... would it be better to have the latest AFM version, which incorporates ...

Re: Data Path Failure
Today during some moderate turbulence I had the dreaded FAILED PATH with the AFCS disconnect and warning in the top left. I cycled the AFCS breaker and it went away and behaved normally the remainder of the flight. I had a similar event many months ago as well. Do these LRU contacts really get "...

Re: Rear door primary latch opening. ( I searched I swear)
Peter, yes, any help specific to the passenger door would be appreciated! It does seem though that if removing the door is not very hard that would be the way to go, as I am familiar with the painful contortions of even fixing the canopy latch, and the hassle of incessantly dropping parts.

Re: Rear door primary latch opening. ( I searched I swear)
Matt, yes, that was me. The canopy you can open it a small amount and it is still at eye level, and firmly attached laterally, such that you can hammer out the roll pin, etc. The rear door, when you open it, is now freely mobile, and held on by the fragile hinges that we are routinely supposed to in...

Re: Rear door primary latch opening. ( I searched I swear)
I've been pondering tackling the rear on my own and was wondering if anyone has had it done yet, and if so, was the door removed or left on to do it?

Re: Rear door primary latch opening. ( I searched I swear)
sorry to say it is the same painful tiny gas strut in the latch as for the main canopy:
