Re: operational cost for a da40

Are there annual licensing costs as well? (In my state, I have to pay ~$50 per year for a state sticker). No, but I forgot 1K€/Y for Trust fee for US registration abroad and 400€/y for Jeppesen navdata :( I guess there is less competition than in US and maintenance costs are high. We also chose a g...

Re: Nav data update for G1000 simulator

This works for me:
I copied the data file from my SD card avtn_db.bin and renamed it worldwide.bin.
I replaced the old worldwide.bin in the Garmin Trainer Directory with the new one and it works on Ver 9.01.

Re: New 135HP Engine from Rotax the 915iS

I like this engine. At the altitudes I fly, it would deliver as much or more HP. At 185 lbs. though (w/o coolant?), there is no way I could hang enough bolts to keep the DA40 balanced even if you could get a tad more of the weight fore. Yes, we would need engine mount and cowling of the JP7 to get ...

Re: New 135HP Engine from Rotax the 915iS

I was thinking the same thing, but aren't there already a lot of W&B issues with the io-360-m1a models. W&B problem with the twin Lyco's are related to fuel weight. An io-360-M1a weight 300 Lb. With two light Rotax's, you could load more fuel (Avgas or Mogas). Not sure DAI wants other devel...
