Re: Citation crash 1/9/21

From the report: The pilot held a private pilot certificate, and although he held type ratings for the Grumman G-111 Albatross and Learjet, FAA records did not indicate that he held a type rating for the Citation 560. He had taken Citation 560 training toward the end of 2020 at a training facility i...

Re: G1000 Legacy & NXi upgrade program

When tried one or two times, the autopilot did not couple to the glide slope so I assumed the KAP-140 did not follow the GS. What would be the point of upgrading to WAAS if not the ability to fly coupled LPV approaches? Too fly them by hand. :) Tim Nice one :) I’ve hand flown ILS approaches to mini...

Re: CD 135 with clutch replacement options

There's one more interesting thing regarding CD engines. It's often mentioned TBR or TBO in maintenance documents. However, I'm not aware of any single case of overhaul done on these engines. Does anyone have some information about this to share.

Re: New CD170

No question that the marriage of panel avionics to certification is the marriage from hell for the owner. Diamond's only interest is selling new airplanes. It seems neither the airframe of avionics manufacturer has any reason to spend money navigating government bureaucracies for certification afte...

Re: Advice for a (soon to be) DA42-NG owner

3. Tarmac 700m is not a problem but I would avoid short grass runways. E.g. LDPV (in Croatia) is 700m tarmac runway and I land there regularly; LIPV (in Italy) is 1000m grass runway and I would always go there because of good drainage and short grass (once I took off from there in heavy rain after s...

Re: CD 135 with clutch replacement options

Emir, When did you have your engines done? It is more than I paid when I had mine done in 2015. I was told the prices for the engines have been going up almost every year. The current engines prices alone are about $47k for CD-135 and 74K for CD-155 from Continental. Engines paid for 4 years ago an...
