Re: The G1000 project - "The next step"
A problem with assuming that Garmin has been totally cooperative and that all upgrade issues should be blamed on Diamond is that I have had first hand experience with Garmin’s outright refusal to test and overhaul/update GIA63Ws that I purchased, despite my expressed willingness to pay for Garmin’s ...

Re: Bad transmit on pilot side, but co side okay?
I had a weird problem like that. It turned out to be an issue in the A20’s headset mike plug. Fortunately, Bose replaced it for free at their booth at Sun N Fun.
Try switching a different headset to the pilot’a side.

Re: The G1000 project - "The next step"
Has anyone questioned Garmin about the decision to not make the GIA64 (all of which I understand to include WAAS) backwards compatible with the GIA63W? I’m sure that could have been done, even if it meant including an avionics shop programming a setting in installation.

Re: The G1000 project - "The next step"
“Willingness to spend” is an absurd question, as Garmin is no longer making the GIA63W. In my case, I purchased two of them for a price that I was willing to spend. My willingness to spend even extended to paying Garmin to recertify them and pay to have them installed in my plane. Nevertheless, Garm...

Re: The G1000 project - "The next step"
Has it occurred to anyone else that the announced program to make WAAS-enabled GIA63Ws available for retrofit replacement of existing GIA63s appears to be a total sham, as it’s limited to only those GIA63W units that become “surplussed” when an existing G1000 system is replaced by a new NXi system? ...

DA40 for Sale?
If so, PM me with what you have and what you want for it. I’d prefer 2008 or newer with WAAS, GFC700, ADS-B in/out (GTX345R), XM weather/entertainment.

Potentially interesting ADS-B for Diamonds
uAvionix is now making a unit called the tailBeaconX (not to be confused with their tailBeacon). The tailBeaconX includes a mode S transponder. While it is intended to replace the (non-existent in Diamonds) tail beacon, in the latest edition of Aviation Consumer there is an article in which the auth...

Re: The G1000 project - "The next step"
I look forward to hearing about progress on the meeting and any new developments. A concern that I had expressed, namely Garmin's outright refusal to take in GIA63W LRUs that I had purchased on the used market, and for which I was perfectly willing to pay Garmin to bench test and make any required r...
