Re: Location of GMU44 & GRS77 in a 2011 DA40-XLS
I have had intermittent issues with the heading taking a long time to come up. Each time it would be X'd, as in ThomasD's first photo. Unfortunately, I never looked at the Aux screen when it happened. Last week I had a new issue, in that the heading came up, but I had a red X to the right of the Alt...

Re: Only one green after maintenance
I now have a DA40, so the gear is always "down and locked", but I used to have a Piper Lance with retractable gear. The Lance's gear indicator lights actually plugged into the front of the panel, so if there was ever an issue with a light not coming on, you could exchange the indicator lig...

Re: Landing at Philadelphia International Airport
Back in the day... I got my PPL flying out of Princeton Airport (39N) in 1974. Within a month I flew into Washington National (now Reagan International), and I flew into KPHL several times, where I used to taxi right up to the commercial gates where my passenger would unload with his luggage. I woul...

Now you have me wondering whether my "Bruce's" cover (clearly placarded "Remove Before Flight") requires an STC or TSO.Rick wrote:startingovercfi wrote:... Since the gust lock must be removed before flight, I'm not too worried about the non-TSO'd clip.

Bernie,
There is an EXCELLENT composite shop (and FAA Repair Station) at Cartersville, GA (KVPC) named RZM Aviation. Give them a call (678-480-9946).

Re: Ground handling help needed
After posting my video on YouTube, someone there suggested this alternative, http://www.stearman181.net/catalog/prod ... ucts_id/74 Of course mine costs 1 AMU, while his solution is 40 AMU, but it does look like fun. Be sure to check out the video.

Re: DA42 as a true four (and a half) seater?
While trying not to go off topic, I can relate to the issue presented, as I started flying (in 1973) when my family consisted of me and my wife, only, and she was definitely not a fan of small airplanes. I flew, mainly Cessna 172s and 177s, along with Piper Warriors for a long time before purchasing...
