Kate, I completely agree with the point you're making. I've flown a DA40 NG and compared with my DA40 TDI, its engine was smoother and the extra power increased its cruise speed, but it's still only got one engine. Energy goes up with the square of velocity, so increasing VS0 from 49 to 60 kts at MT...
