Re: VI - should I do it?

... Therefore, I would strongly suggest adding a storm scope so that you can see the potential storms beyond what the on board radar shows to allow you to both tactically and strategically plan your flight path. Yes, this is what we opted for: the GWX68 radar PLUS the WX500 stormscope, so I guess w...

Re: VI - should I do it?

Thank you all for your great feedback! This is highly appreciated. Sure, the investment to be done for the VI is higher, but I decided to do it and - if everything goes correctly - the new plane will be here in May 2014 :D

I will keep you updated!

Cheers!

VI - should I do it?

Folks, as mentioned earlier I am actually a DA40XLS co-owner, but had my plans already to upgrade into a DA42NG co-ownership. Actually plans have changed and the aircraft we intended to buy is not available any longer. However, we now have an excellent offer for a DA42VI, of course at a higher price...

Re: DA40 NG in U.S.?

Not sure if this forum is read either side of the Atlantic, but I may call on other forum members for advice regarding the DA 40 NG, if there are other Europeans reading the forum. I hail from "Blighty" ( United Kingdom) ... welcome, and sure, we are reading this forum on the other side o...

Re: DA40 crash in Peru

My condolences to the families, and very sad to read we have also lost members of our Diamond circle. It looks as if the pilot was very well trained and, even better, he did this difficult route with a CFI before, so nobody can argue we was not careful enough. Thus, I am far away from blaming anyone...

Re: Climb out... manifold pressure and RPM??

I wonder how 2400 RPM should work for the climb since I use the 2400 RPM already for cruise. My procedure is to reduce to 2600 during the cruise-climb. I have the GFC700, so I select the FLC-mode, choose some 85-90 KIAS and do the climb. EGT is kept around 1400 all time long and this way I easily cl...

Flying to Scotland - Tips?

We decided to fly (IFR) from Germany to Scotland end of July for a couple of days. Airport of entry to the UK will be around London (Biggin Hill etc.), so to have a stop-over approx. 3 hours past departure for re-fuelling etc.. We are planning to proceed northbound the same day of course, but we are...

Garmin GSR56 in the DA40

Folks - I have seen the short discussion about the GSR56 in the DA42 Board, but is anyone here with a DA40 using this system? As many of you know there is no direct weather link (WX) available in Europe, and since I am flying (light) IFR I would definitely appreciate to have weather data available a...
