Re: More performance?

Just got an update from Brock's supercharger project.
They expect to testing fly in january, and the solution will be lightweight. Looks promising to me...

Re: Pipistrel four seater

I am not convinced. A hybrid may be useful in vehicles with frequent braking where regenerative braking can be used to recover some of the energy normally lost in the form of heat from friction braking. A hybrid also has the advantage that the output of both electric and combustion motors can be co...

I agree.... You CHEATER! ;) sure makes minimum IFR landings a piece of cake!
Just get ready for some roller coaster on your BFR. Do they let you use the A/P in the US? Here it's hand flying, no gps and of course no SVT!

Yeah, wonderful technology! We re lucky to live today...

Re: Gadget: Favorate iPhone/iPad apps

I have found a neat App for the iphone: "GPS Alarm Clock: INeverMiss" alerts you when you are near your destination and rings an alarm to wake you up. Very helpful when flying long legs with the AP and you are having a nap :D http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/gps-alarm-clock-inevermiss/id383...

Re: Considering a DA40 - Need advice on changes in model yea

I really like SVT but $10,000 is a lot to pay. Who installed the Stormscope? Are there instructions from Diamond on where to place the antenna or did the shop decide where to place it? Does it work well? Premier Aircraft Sales installed my Stormscope and moved the TAS box. Great service, great comp...

Re: Considering a DA40 - Need advice on changes in model yea

My DA 40 XL has no WAAS, but I'm not missing it. With normal GPS and ILS, you have enough options. Keep in mind that as a newly certified pilot, YOU may or may not be safe flying IFR approaches in minimum IMC, I have had the TAS600 box moved forward to reduce the W&B constraints. Also added a St...

Re: More performance?

Performance measurement update A couple of days ago I flew alone to LSZG where I picked-up a friend who weighs about 80 Kg 170 lb Much to my surprise, I found out that with him on board the plane was faster by at least 5 KTAS We were running late so I went flat out and we achieved 147 KTAS on a cold...

Re: More performance?

About relative prop performance, here Hartzell's response This STC program was actually driven by Diamond. It was testedside by side with the aluminum Hartzell and the 3 blade MT.Performance-wise the aluminum 2 blade was the best choice of the threeand also the least expensive. It is also the heavie...

Re: More performance?

Do you realise that for the same fuel money we could fly a twin Lyco if we were in the States ! Frustrating :( My FBO manager is selling his (very fine) MCR 4S 914. He Signed for the Dyn'Aero Twin R. With Mogas, his fuel cost will be lower than ours. Not IFR certified nor FIKI though, so I still pr...
