The AFM specifically states the rear door is to be unlocked in flight. It’s emergency egress. And it would be totally irresponsible if you have rear seat passengers. There is no way to unlock it from inside. The current production DA40NG (and presumably DA40) canopy and door latches can be opened f...

The above "top slot" answers are for the MFD (probably obvious, but not explicitly mentioned above).

Re: Diamond Quality
You can use the Check Flight Report in the DA40NG Aircraft Maintenance Manual (05-28-92) for a part of your acceptance process. The AMM is available from the Diamond Tech Pubs website.

According to MSB 40NG-003 Rev. 15 (page 4 of 16) dated 08-March-2023, the latest GDU version for DA40NGs with WAAS-equipped Legacy G1000 panels is 11.13, which is associated with system software 915.07 (software part number 010-00915-07). A complete manifest is listed in the MSB, available from the ...

Re: Into my first annual with my 62….impressions
A re-read of Joel's most recent update indicates that the aux fuel tank sensor is the critical path for completing the Annual; it's not the parts required for the radar Installation. I'm skeptical the Annual can be completed and the airplane be signed off as airworthy without the fuel gauge repair. ...

Re: Into my first annual with my 62….impressions
I'll voice an unpopular counterpoint. This is actually two projects: the Annual inspection and the Installation of the upgraded weather radar. Presumably, the Annual couldn't be rescheduled. It's unclear a) which parts-related delays are due to the Annual and concurrent scheduled maintenance (e.g., ...

Re: Standby instruments
It uses the pitot/static inputs to determine that the airplane isn't flying (no airspeed) and turns itself off. So if you run out of power in clouds and your pitot heat gets disabled and you ice over... According to the SAM pilot guide, you can stop the automated shutdown. SAM-shutdown.png
