Re: Garmin G-1000 ADS-B solution?
Ok, so now I know I want a GTX-345R to go with my G1000, but the million dollar question is will my DA40 will be one of the "select G1000-equipped aircraft" ? I believe this change will require an update to the G1000 software. Does Diamond have to do something, or pay something to make th...

Garmin G-1000 ADS-B solution?
Is this going to be the ADS-B solution G-1000 owners have been waiting for? Is so, probably good news for Diamond owners.

Re: Revamped Diamond North America website - Lycoming DA40 model killed off?
I know that Diamond employees are monitoring this forum and therefore know what we, their customers, have been saying. I want to challenge your assumption that financial projections were not good enough to justify making a better DA40. This is absolutely true. I recently was contacted by Mr. Maurer...

Re: Revamped Diamond North America website - Lycoming DA40 model killed off?
Sadly the market in North America has spoken, with dwindling sales of new DA40-180s (DA40 XLTs) over the past few years. DA40 production in London, Ontario had already shifted to mostly building of parts for DA40NGs being assembled in Wiener Neustadt, Austria. This made it difficult to justify cont...

Re: Revamped Diamond North America website - Lycoming DA40 model killed off?
The DA40 is such a neglected airframe. It seems like with minimal effort it could be an IO-390 supercharged or turbocharged equipped near 180 knot airplane at altitude. Bump up the useful load, which can't be too hard with the huge wing, and throw in air conditioning and you've got a real travellin...

Re: Revamped Diamond North America website - Lycoming DA40 model killed off?
From a business perspective it makes sense for Diamond to only sell Austro-equipped models of its airplanes. It needs a critical mass of Austros in the field. Have any DA40-NGs been sold in the USA? I have never seen one in person. Yes, if the market you were trying to sell to wanted Austro boat an...

Re: Revamped Diamond North America website - Lycoming DA40 model killed off?
I can tell you for my A1 Katana there have been some issues. Some parts are no longer available - like the canopy lock slides and the interior components. When I replaced the carpets, I bought C1 carpets and had them cut down and bound locally. Certainly not a big deal, though, but I wonder about av...

Re: DA20-A1, then and now
I'm thinking those are the original chocks from the first picture too. :-) They were, although faded from years of Florida sun. Same gentleman working the ramp, remembered the plane and my son as the kid who sat on cushions to see out of the airplane. It was a fun thing to accomplish and we both en...

DA20-A1, then and now
Attached are a couple of pictures of my son, along with our DA20-A1. The first picture was in 2002 before we owned "Princess Amelia" and the second is last week. He flew back to Fernandina Beach (Amelia Island) to replicate the picture taken before his first flight lesson. He now has 1500 ...
