Re: TDI owners: outdated Garmin G1000 software (version 9.05)

Let's not forget that others manage to get new versions of software packages out for far more complicated systems than our Diamonds on a regular basis. Many of these companies do it with fewer units and even more regulation. Think of power, transportation infrastructure, scientific instruments, medi...

Re: TDI owners: outdated Garmin G1000 software (version 9.05)

Add my name, too (Peter, N442Z, DA-40-180, 40.1124). On the software development side, the expense is likely in the six (6) digits. Figure it this way (and remember: everything here is a guesstimate built on no personal knowledge whatsoever): - Software development: the DA-4X series requires customi...

Owners Movement to Drive New G1000 Software Updates

Hi all - There is an insurgent group of digitally orphaned owners of various DA-42s who are asking people to sign on to press Diamond for new software updates. Various classes of G1000 owners have been found themselves in evolutionary dead ends without prospect for their G1000s to become more functi...

Re: TDI owners: outdated Garmin G1000 software (version 9.05)

The situation on the DA40s has been equally irritating and even more complex. The STC used to be held by Garmin who never did anything with it. Now the STC for G1000 installations is held by Diamond, but we've heard nothing on future updates. The GTX-345R / ADS-B issues have been a symptom of the is...

Re: Again ECU failure

That sounds like a classic loose connector, probably on the engine / airframe unit of the G1000 (speaking without authority). It can only be at points where they both come together.

Re: G1000 spare part availability and NXi upgrade

I took a look at the various installation manuals, etc., for the new and "legacy" components. A G1000 NXi upgrade would anyone with a GIA-63W is merely replacing the two display units (GDU 104X's). While the service notice for the DA62 also mentions weight savings, the Garmin documents say...

Re: G1000 spare part availability and NXi upgrade

One would hope they continue to stock replacement parts. That would be a serious issue for many, many airplanes, manufacturers, operators, etc. On the weight issue, my understanding on the King Air side was that the weight reduction came from the removal of old mechanically-driven avionics (gyroscop...

Re: DA40NG instrument flying

If you're just looking for a 500-foot-per-minute descent then the easiest is to use the autopilot's VS (vertical speed) functionality. It will do it regardless of throttle, etc. Note that you can easily exceed the white arc and the autopilot doesn't know what the flaps are doing. Remember that you c...

I went to Garmin data and never missed the Jeppesen data.
