Re: The next stuff

You can use a G5 in a steam gauge da40. I have one. I have the aspen 2000 series with gpss steering and syn. vision linked to my 530W-430W and gdl 88. The G5 is my back up and the only analog gauges is the air speed and turn coordinator. This system fit perfect takes 4.3 lbs off your panel and I now...

Re: Corked Nose Wheel

I have finished the molds for the fin. I am not trying to make any money off of this, I have just found thru testing that this is a simple cheap fix for the nose wheel staying true during flight. You can take this on and off in minutes to test for yourself. The one thing you must remember is to stra...

Re: Exhaust valve problem options

Usually the valve seat problem starts with valve guide wear. The valve now does not stay concentric with the seat and when the valve is seated does not make enough contact with the seat to pull the heat out of the valve. It also puts higher point loading on a smaller area of the seat and causes the ...

SureFly Electronic Ignition

SureFly is a company that is making an affordable solid state replacement for a magneto. I've been following them, they have an engine STC, but still need an airframe STC. I received a email from them this evening requesting EGT/CHT performance for their airframe STC. It looks like they are going to...

Re: ForcedAeroMotive: SuperCharged DA40

What about fuel flow at altitudes in teens? do you need to run the boost pump 100% of the time at these altitudes?

Re: Low fuel pressure... again

On a flight from North Carolina to Florida at 9000 ft my fuel pressure would drop to 10 psi then up to 23 psi. Fuel flow would increase at the same time. Turned on electric pump to stabilize. This continued 6 or more times in a 2.5 hr flight. The next day at 3000 ft in slow cruise the engine stumble...

Re: How smooth can an IO360-M1A be?

The power stroke frequency is 73.3hz but the harmonics at the crank when measured will produce a frequency 95% of the time of 25% of the power stroke which would be 18 hz. I have been designing and manufacturing high performance engines for Ford Motorsports Racing for 40 years. The other forces acti...

Re: How smooth can an IO360-M1A be?

"Power stroke each 180 degrees means 2 power strokes per revolution, so the number of power strokes is double the rps (not half), or more like 73 Hz." Sorry your math is wrong. A 4 stroke engine takes 720 degrees to complete a cycle. 180 degrees for intake,180 degrees for compression, 180 ...

Re: How smooth can an IO360-M1A be?

If your engine is running @ 2200 rpm you are turning 36.7 rps. on a 4 cylinder 4 stroke engine it has a power stroke every 180 degrees so the engines power frequency is 18 hz @ 2200 rpm. If a aircraft engine had a heavy fly wheel the pulses of the engine would be dampened and have much less vibratio...
