Re: Diamond Aircraft Owner's Seminars/Panels/Training/Fly-ins?

Good question. When I was shopping for my aircraft, one item that really appealed to my wife from Cirrus was their very strong promotion of Cirrus Life Ventures or something like that where several owners would get together along with a factory rep and go to some destination together like the Bahama...

Re: DA62 Anti Icing Performance

We did experience a slight airframe buffet, so were careful to maintain speed and limit control inputs on approach. While the buffet certainly go our attention, the flare and landing was completely normal leading us to believe it was simply "turbulence" resulting from the ice in unprotect...

Good question, other than not use the handle I haven't figured it out yet. Almost every flight I push them back in place.

I haven't had the defrost issue bother me yet.

Re: DA62 Anti Icing Performance

Colin, CFIDave or anyone else have any "techniques" to exercising the system and keeping it "wet"? The monthly use is mentioned in section 8.6.6 of the FIKI supplement to the AFM. One of the Diamond factory pilots recommended running the TKS in the summer only when you saw rain ...

Re: DA62 Anti Icing Performance

Thanks Chris, you are right; it is optical illusion. I downloaded and magnified the pic and, yes, clean leading edge. Yes, that's right, the leading edges of the tail and wing were both very clean. While I had flown in icing several times before, this was the first time I had landed with a signific...

Re: DA62 Anti Icing Performance

In one of your pictures, I couldn't help but notice the Vortex Generators installed on your DA62 (at the factory I presume). Hello Scott, Yes, those vortex generators are standard on the DA62. They probably help a lot in the roll stability it has at low speeds. Also, a couple of weeks ago I did att...

DA62 Anti Icing Performance

It was a great day to do some practice approaches and icing conditions prevailed whenever I was in the clouds. Total ice accumulation was about 0.75" and I spent almost exactly 30 minutes in icing conditions so that rate would work out to be middle of the road moderate conditions. I ran the sys...

I hope it's not standard procedure to do a windmilling restart during factory release testing.

Re: New DA 62 Owners

Regarding TKS addition, I find that by dumping it into a 2.5 gallon container it is fairly easy to pour into the aircraft. I marked mine in 1 liter increments to measure out how much I'm going to dump in. The pilot's guide on the radar is in the Garmin G1000 Pilot's guide under hazard avoidance. Or ...

Re: Static Port Design flaw

I thought of this post after flying through literally hours of rain on Monday night and Tuesday that in areas of rain in cumulus congestus clouds, you will see IAS fluctuations as the auto pilot is working to maintain a constant altitude.
