Re: High Airframe Time

Mine had its 6000 hours inspection two years ago. This winter I am replacing the canopy as the current one is cracked. We will also inspect the front landing gear for cracks using Magniflux. And will be replacing some rubber thingies in the front landing gear to fix the vibration I get on takeoff. W...

DA-20 is no longer offered

I guess the writing was on the wall. Now the Da20 has disappeared from Diamond's web site. Why build an affordable, low margin, fun to fly twin seater when you can make better use of your manufacturing capacity selling a four seater and turn a higher profit. I still love my DA20-C1 though. And I'll ...

Re: Montreal Suggestions

You could also go through customs in Dorval and then park for free at CYJN for a few days and I'll drive you to town for free.

Re: You Know You're a Diamond Pilot When ...

You know you don't need a parachute to perform a safe off field landing thanks to the low stall speed. And you know you are flying one of the safest machines in general aviation.

Re: No free lunch

Well I was quoted 5k$ for adding a heated pitot to my DA20-C1 so I would not be surprised that 172 part was upwards of that.

Re: Outdated Garmin G1000 software - petition sign-up

Dear all, This thread is very interesting. I learned a lot by Reading this thread and other avionics threads on the pilotsofamerica forums. I am currently looking at avilution.com. An open and upgradable system. Not certified and won’t be for the near future. Does not lock you to a single hardware v...

Re: A&P/IA Recommendation Seattle/North

I'm from the East coast, so I do not have first hand knowledge of mechanics in your area. The Canadian Aircraft registry lists all canadian owners of DA20-A1: https://wwwapps.tc.gc.ca/saf-sec-sur/2/ccarcs-riacc/RchSimpRes.aspx?cn=%7c%7c&mn=DA20A1%7c&sn=%7c%7c&on=%7c%7c&m=%7c%7c This ...

Thanks, I will forward that to my mechanic. There you go Maintenance Practices 6. Adjust the Nose Landing Steering Friction Steering friction prevents nose wheel shimmy. A. Equipment Refer to Chapter 07-10-00 for the equipment required for jacking the aircraft. B. Procedure DA20-C1 AMM Detail Steps/...

Re: Landing gear vibration

Hi Derek, Thanks for the quick response. My mechanic says the airplane is still safe to fly so I'll be able to travel to the Bagotville QC airshow to see an F35 up close. The price of parts is higher on these metric birds. I want a better panel, and I'm not sure it makes sense to plunk 50k$ in avion...
