Re: Training market: Diamond or Cirrus?
Imho the decision to pick Cirrus vs Diamond for a training fleet has little to do with the technical superiority of the airplanes. One of my clients once picked the worst electronic equipment and software solution on the market, against all of his engineers' advice, simply because he was able to get...

Do you have this problem with both of your radios?

Re: Garmin Announcement re ADS-B
Too bad it is 978 Mhz. I will need to equip my canadian plane with ADS-B out for going to the U.S. so the GDL82 fits the bill for that mission. However, Copa (The canadian AOPA) is strongly hinting that NAV Canada will eventually require ADS-B out for canadian airspace eventually. And in Canada we'r...

Re: Vibration
Flew yesterday before having a mechanic retorquing the propeller bolts. The unbalanced propeller problem had mostly disappeared. Presumably the propeller's wood has dried, thus eliminating the unbalanced weight in the propeller brought by several weeks in a row with copious rainfall. The instrument ...

Re: Taking Delivery of a 2008 XLS ; Question for you
In addition to what others have mentioned above, there are various things you should check yourself during the walk-around and test flight. Do the tires need replacing? Are there brake fluid leaks near the brakes? Do all the lights function properly? Can you move the ailerons without them binding? W...

Re: Vibration
I am very interested in the answer. I have the same propeller, and I believe the same problem. The vibration appears at specific RPMs. Also, it has been raining cats and dogs here for the last four months, and I even though I have some propeller covers, I suspect the propeller has absorbed a lot of ...

Re: What Oil Do You Run?
I use Aeroshell 15W50. It gets cold in Quebec in the winter, but I do not expect to have much time for flying in the winter months. I might add Camguard or switch to another oil, we'll see. I only have had my airplane since late April. I too am an avid motorcyclist and I have read way too much about...

Re: DA20-A1 battery low volts after 6 months
When you fly, is the ammmeter showing positive reading, and what voltage do you see? You should see at least 14 volts when the engine is running, and with a positive ammeter. The battery troubleshooting steps for the DA20-C1 are listed in the Aircraft Maintenance Manual under "BATTERY SYSTEM - ...
