Re: DA62 USB Ports
The Stratus USB I had installed (on the avionics bus) some years back is dual USB-A ports. Not a lot of output but sufficient to operate and fully charge my Stratus 3 and slowly recharge my iPad Pro 11. These are both perfectly acceptable. Unless the iPad started at 100% I always land with more char...

Re: Steam DA40 to Glass
This is excellent info, thanks. I don’t understand why the one installation upgraded and kept the 530w/430w. I thought the whole reason to upgrade is the 530/430 is no longer supported by garmin with new parts if it breaks. Why upgrade to something that still needs them in your panel or can you swa...

Re: Checklists and procedure plates
Everything on iPad Pro 11 and iPhone as backup. iPhone at eye level and iPad as close to eye level as possible without blocking visibility to the panel or out the canopy. iPad is in a position where it can be seen and manipulated by either front seat occupant. Both are easily included in scanning th...

Re: Steam DA40 to Glass
I'm happy with the Aspen, as it gives me a couple of things the G5 won't. But full-function RSM installation was a pain. And here's a potential downside: If it were ever possible to install a GFC500, the Aspen would have to go. It's Garmin-gizmo limited and this is unlikely to change.

Re: Leaseback Agreement
Many of us (yes, I include myself) will give you all kinds of downsides. We're what was once called "nattering nabobs of negativity" on the subject. I hope you can find someone who feels it worked for them and get their specific input, which is what you asked for. Don't limit your search t...

Re: Weird cause of alternator fail
Cool: The moral of the story: Always check for loose/failed wiring first. I have several similar instances that immediately come to mind like this: Two in my plane, many others in cars.

Re: Steam DA40 to Glass
I'm with Derek, here. I did put in an Aspen E5, which works fine with my 530W/430W and KAP140. One strategy I might undertake is to pick up a 430W that has been replaced and keep a spare. That's "true" plug and play :D I don't have "glass envy", especially touch-screen on the pan...

Re: Rear Door departs a DA40 after takeoff
Max Prescott put out a podcast where he tries to go into the details of the locking mechanism but overlooks/misstates numerous things, 1. There are two lugs for the passenger door: fore and aft. His podcast would lead you to think there is only the one in front. 2. Doesn't reference the potentially ...

Re: DA50 vs The World
I THINK (but dont know) that the parachute fuels bad ADM as a makes people think that it is safe to do x,y,z because a parachute will save them. There are enough cases of Cirri pilots pulling CAPS in low-level maneuvering and dying to support that hypotheses. A false sense of security. The parachut...
