Re: Stall Horn extremely sensitive

You might consult the published DA40 maintenance manual (free on the Austrian website) and see if it says anything about calibrating the stall warning on the DA40. But unlike the DA42 that has an adjustable electric lift indicator on the wing, the DA40 has only a fixed hole in the leading edge. So p...

Re: G1000 MFD won't update

You can just download the Navdata onto the card and load it into the G1000. When you subscribed online to Jepp or Garmin, you already provided your aircraft's G1000 SystemID, so that Navdata file you downloaded can only be read by your aircraft's G1000.

Colin:
You actually get rain in Socal? ;)
Maybe rain sticking to a DA42 canopy depends on what you use to clean your canopy -- our canopy easily sheds water because I'm spraying it with Plexus after every flight just to get the bugs off.

Re: Landing in a DA42 in Frankfurt Int'l (EDDM)

Fascinating video -- I got nervous just from watching it. You've really got be on your "A" game to fly into such a busy airport while simultaneously avoiding thunderstorm cells and having much faster jets landing right behind you. The video clearly shows the benefit of having radar (the on...

Re: DA20 on gravel?

I've landed at a number of poorly-paved runways in the Bahamas. Unfortunately one of them on Andros Island has a parking ramp area with pea gravel, and this caused a few minor nicks in the metal leading edge of our DA42's 3-blade MT props. So I'd also suggest you stay away from landing (or taxiing!)...

Re: I will fly a DA62 tomorrow!

Diamond is rescheduling the DA62 tour dates today in CT, tomorrow in Norwood, MA, and Tues in Rochester, NY due to low ceilings and visibility; all demo flights must be flown in VFR conditions. Earlier this week they had to scrub 1 of 2 days that were scheduled in Brandywine, PA and again 1 of 2 day...

Re: New Plane

Neema: Welcome to the forum; it's good to have another DA42-VI pilot join us. I want to particularly thank you for suggesting the use of Castrol Edge 0W-40 oil in Austro engines. Originally Austros could only use Shell Helix Ultra which costs more than $20/liter in the US because it had to be import...

Re: I will fly a DA62 tomorrow!

I returned home from a flight last evening to find a DA62 sitting in the Diamond maintenance hangar here on the field (we have a Diamond Service center now here in Roanoke, VA!), with both engine cowlings off. Apparently the East Coast Tour has been delayed while something gets fixed - nobody was a...

But the DA42 already has its wing tips folded by 2 feet at each end (relative to the DA62). That's why it's about 4 feet less wide. :)

Re: Bird Strike at Night!

Yes the VGs are standard on the inboard wings of the NG and -VI. I still don't know why they are located there, rather than out in front of the ailerons -- like the newer DA62.
