Re: Why We Removed The Supercharger

With all due respect to both parties, I believe it would be wise to take this dialogue private.
It is very sad that this problem happened and I hope you find an amicable middle ground. good luck in the resolution and thank you for a very instructive and civil exchange

Re: Why We Removed The Supercharger

I want to say clearly that my only intent going forward is to understand, not point fingers. Chris: your aircraft being a 2008 must have the tuned exhaust which is good for a significant increase in climb rate versus non-Powerflow planes such as Brock's. If this is correct, I must pull back my state...

Re: Why We Removed The Supercharger

Chris I looked up the Cirrus reports files and they indeed support what you say: Brock too only allowed 29-30 inches at take-off and then throttled back to limit CHTs to around 400 F. This implies less power than the theoretical max. And yet enough that he was seeing a massive performance boost vs h...

Re: Why We Removed The Supercharger

Chris I unfortunately do not have the time to dig more in the Savvy files, but in a nutshell: - look at how Wayne operated his plane - he kept MP very low- he is a very prudent pilot and I know him for being very gentle on his engines. - your reference for performance should be the plane that suppor...

Re: Why We Removed The Supercharger

Thanks Wayne :) Performance of SC planes should be massively better even at low altitudes because no DA40 can make 30 inches of MP after take-off. The price to pay is higher SFC, a big increase in FF and maybe wear, but if an engine overheats, something is wrong. The FAA would have denied the STC if...

Re: Why We Removed The Supercharger

There was also a very detailed debate about inlet air temperature on Wayne's Pirep thread... Rich: is it not so that if mag timing is set incorrectly, CHTs are affected? As I said above I believe that FAT should be given the opportunity of presenting their analysis. My feeling is that something is w...

Re: Why We Removed The Supercharger

Wow! I think Forced Aeromotive need to be given an opportunity to respond before conclusions are drawn... The IO-360 may be a very robust foundation, but i would certainly not want CHTs to exceed 400 F on a steady state basis. Some minor changes can considerably affect CHTs, for example ignition adv...

Could it just be a thinner section of the structure?
The fuselage is normally rock solid at this location.
i guess the only reasonable explanation would be delamination due to poor resin diffusion during manufacturing...

Re: Question for engine ground run during lockdown

My experience is similar / these engines are extremely robust and unless you are near the sea I would not worry / leave it alone.
