Re: Diesel smell in the cabin

Not sure what the exhaust would have to do with it. Like others have said, it’s generally fuel running out the vent and down to the wing stub or the filter drain dripping and obviously if there was a fuel line leak somewhere in the nacelle - I’d start with the boost pump pack

Re: Stuck in grass

If anyone knew what the perfect solution was I would sure like to know I don't have a perfect solution - we use a straight stem inflator but it has a locking end for one handed operation and that makes it harder to get through those small fairing holes. You may have good luck with one of these thou...

Re: Stuck in grass

Beringer lists 112psi as the MAX pressure for the 15x6-6 tires in their CMM, however in their installation manuals they merely say to follow the aircraft manufacturers' instructions. The ICA for the DA40 as an example: Beringer.png Indeed there are different tubeless tire options. I believe the kits...

Pilot is fine. You can check the copilot on occasion because if the fluid is low the copilot will feel it first, but that should be covered at the Annual inspection.

Re: Park Brake issue

I don’t think anybody is talking about using the parking brake in flight or taxi. They can’t get it to release when they want to pull the plane out of the hangar.

Re: Red Fluid on the pedals

The solution is that the brake reservoirs aren't supposed to be filled to the brim. Some mechanics mistakenly top them off at some point and when the pads get replaced this happens.

Re: Park Brake issue

FWIW the parking valve is semi-accessible by removing the pilot side center column trim panel - there's a cutout in the composite structure to get to that end of the cable for replacement. If the lever end jams or the cable bends, you could remove this trim and manually push the parking valve lever ...

Re: 600 hr items

But I don't understand why the flywheels need to be replaced on DA62 AE330/E4P engines, but not on DA40 or DA42 Austro engines (which only need to be removed and inspected). There's only a 5% difference in power output/torque on the DA62's engines. What were your inspection failure rates on the 42s...
