Re: TAWS Alerts gone since ADSB upgrade

I know that the factory upgraded the G1000 databases but not sure about the software version, I will check on that. I did some research from the Max Trescott's G1000 Book and it points out that I should be able to do a manual TAWS test on the ground which on completion should generate the famous &q...

Re: TAWS Alerts gone since ADSB upgrade

Did you re-enable the functionality with the special SD card that is tied to your airframe?

If you are hearing terrain system test OK then the TAWS version is not enabled.

Perhaps it was disabled during the installation? (Did you update the version?)

Re: How smooth can an IO360-M1A be?

This is making me do some research. The illustrated parts manualf (https://www.lycoming.com/sites/default/files/%28L%29IO-360-M1A%20Parts%20Catalog%20PC-LIO-360-M1A.pdf) does not show counterweights anywhere. Yet, according to Lycoming the engine has other components with dynamic balancing, whatever...

Re: How smooth can an IO360-M1A be?

Either way, the measured vibration corresponds to *something* timed to the engine's rotational speed.

Cylinders or crankshaft ... or ... ?

Re: How smooth can an IO360-M1A be?

This one: https://hartzellprop.com/diamond-da-40-aircraft-receive-two-new-innovative-hartzell-propeller-stc-options/ It came out after your plane (and my old one, too). Expensive ... but definitely a nice propeller. Would be interested to hear what your impressions are if/when you switch and whether...

Re: Golze ADL & electricity @ DA40NG

Also ... a small word of caution. You're getting an airplane with the GTX-345R, TAS, and a Stormscope. In addition you'll have weather at least from the online services through your iPad / mobile / tablet using either Garmin Pilot or Foreflight or both. That's already a lot of information on weather...

Re: How smooth can an IO360-M1A be?

I just had my DA40 dynamically balanced (engine running at 2200 RPM) from an IPS of 0.4 to essentially zero (unmeasurable). This said, the Hartzell composite propeller has always felt smoother than the aluminum one I had on my previous DA40. This one is brand new (undisclosed lightning strike from p...

Re: “Expedite climb”

I left an non-towered airport VFR on Long Island a month ago and the controller pretended that my prefiled IFR plan wasn't in the system and sent me to flight services ... who then told me I was #3 and never came back. Both folks were grumpy at receiving a call. Of course the flight plan was in the ...
