Re: Loose blades found in annual
Doesn't sound like it is anything you are doing. I always pull out of the hangar without using the towbar. Like you, I pull on two blades right at the root (never further out on the blade). My pull out is downhill, so I'm not exerting much force. I don't push on the blades ever - I have a tug to put...

Re: Loose blades found in annual
I wonder if, as Scott postulates, this is due to a vibration issue with the Diamond airframe/engine combination. If so, a dynamic balancing might help alleviate it. I have toyed with the idea of buying a prop balancing set up, but have deferred because of a) cost, b) my airplane runs fairly smoothly...

Re: Austro Wizard - Don't Leave Home Without It
Russ: I am not clear on your statement: "Of course depending on the issue and needed repair, you may need an A&P/IA rather than just an A&P." An A&P can perform any repair required (at least on an old technology engine like mine), notwithstanding any restrictions on access to p...

Re: Engine overhaul time - Lycoming IO-360-M1A
The issue was at the bottom end of the intake pipes near seal P/N 77569. Come to think of it, I have no idea why oil was visible on the bottom of the pipes on the induction housing. Could it have leaked from somewhere else and collected there? In any case, the seals were declared faulty and replace...

Mine are not tinted. It should not make a difference, though, as the plexiglas material itself contains the tint, it is not a surface treatment. One would have to remove a significant amount of the thickness of the tinted sheet to even be able to detect it with a densitometer, much less the human eye.

Re: Inside Rear Window Scratch - Help on Repair?
I had a similar occurrence on my aircraft (first time I removed the rear seat). I used Novus #2 and a damp cloth to remove the scratch, followed by Novus #1 to polish. Both are available from Aircraft Spruce. It did a good job, I can't see where the scratch was, and I know where it was...

Re: IO-360 with intermittant oil pressure reading
VM-1000 equipped aircraft have different sensors for fuel pressure and oil pressure. They look the same, but have different pressure ranges.

Re: Hourly cost of maintaing a Diamond DA40
A number of your items would depend on the anticipated usage: Private flying by one or two pilots vs. flight instruction with many inexperienced pilots, etc. Items like tires and brakes would need replacement more frequently than a single owner or partnership use. I'm only on my second set of tires ...

Re: IO-360 with intermittant oil pressure reading
Those connectors are quite reliable. I would suspect an installation issue like a bad crimp or broken wire over the connector being bad.
