Re: The G1000 project - "The next step"
As scheduled, we had a good video conference call with Diamond and Garmin on Thursday. The video conference included six staff members from Diamond Canada, two from Diamond Austria and two from Garmin, as well as four owner’s representatives. We covered a lot of material but after three and half hou...

Re: That innocuous foam cover
According to this interview with Dr. Brent Blue, microphone covers should be dipped in a 10% bleach solution and then left to air dry. I assume this would mostly apply well before a pilot or passenger switch is made. It might also now be handy to carry extra mic covers in the age of COVID-19, along ...

Re: The G1000 project - "The next step"
Due to travel restrictions and general concerns over COVID-19, the meeting will now be conducted entirely via video conference. It will take place on Thursday (3/26) and DAN members can anticipate an update on Saturday (3/28). We appreciate the wiliness of Diamond’s CEO and Garmin’s OEM manager to b...

Re: Flood of Used Diamonds?
In the very early stages, twelve of these Falcon Aviation aircraft signed the G1000 petition - 7 DA42's & 5 DA40's. If anyone knows what eventually happens to any of these aircraft, please advise. Thanks!

Re: The G1000 project - "The next step"
Friday afternoon (2/21/2020) we received word from CEO Scott McFadzean, asking the joint meeting at Garmin Headquarters be changed to March 25th and 26th. The attending members have consulted and are able to accommodate this request from DAI. The change of dates request was beyond the control of eit...

Re: The G1000 project - "The next step"
Looks like a great agenda. Kudos to whomever put it together -- clearly a lot of work. Yes, indeed Peter! And without a doubt, one DAN member deserves special mention, and that would be "Boatguy". Early last year he generously gave this now long running project a much-needed shot in the a...

Re: DA40 bevore the B777X in KBFI
Last time I checked, this DA40 is operated by Galvin Flying based at BFI. Often I hear this aircraft on the same Seattle Approach frequency - as we share the last three characters of our N numbers "89Y".

Re: KAP140 / WAAS Navigator
Sandy, per your question and late here at night - I quickly entered a couple of formulas to calculate this information. As of today and according to the G1000 petition - there are approximately: 37 - DA40's and 60 - DA42's that meet this criteria (non-WAAS with a KAP140 A/P) It is highly unlikely th...
