Re: DA40's AFM was updated on Sep 18th
Yep, I agreed on the consolidation and lack of needing the included temp revisions, etc., but they include in each new revision little black bars on the left side for anything that has been changed this time around. For the last update, the bars were all actually different stuff. For this update, th...

Re: Flaps microswitch change
Ironically, I just replaced microswitch 2 which is the second one in from the pilots side of the plane today. We unbolted the rear passenger bench style seat and rotated it to the right side of the plane to obtain access to the switch base plate. I do have access panels but they don’t allow suffici...

Re: DA40's AFM was updated on Sep 18th
I am confused by their revision indicator margin bars in this one, as they are all over the place when they say exactly the same as the prior revision in most areas.

Re: Stick support pins and flap actuator pivot block lubrication
My concern would be that if there is any remaining grease in there now, spraying LPS 2 would wash it out, and I doubt LPS 2 would last for another 1000 hours. I've had multiple mechanics tell me to lubricate things like the aileron push rod end bearings that the AMM specifically says DO NOT LUBRICAT...

Re: Stick support pins and flap actuator pivot block lubrication
Well, never got an answer to this one despite having over 2500 views, and while I have the opportunity to see the flap actuator pivot block again for the moment, was thinking about the lubrication again... slather some grease on the outside (seems pretty futile), full disassembly of of the block ass...

Re: Tint your Diamond - Affordable Solution
Anyone know of a problem leaving the cling tint on the acrylic long term? I have always removed my cling squares after flight for fear of getting some acrylic fogging reaction or discoloration or something if left on for a while.

Re: New Wing Spar AD
Anyone with tips on how to cut and handle the carbon fiber? I tried making a triangle to spec with scissors, a razor blade, and a rotary cutter, and the stuff just separates and falls apart when you look at it wrong.

Re: Tint your Diamond - Affordable Solution
I also use Gila cling window tint in the plane, but slightly less elegantly than Adam. I simply bought a roll of the 5% VLT Limo Black window tint off Amazon and cut up about 8 squares 12" x 12" or so. They are easy to keep folded in a bag, and simply place on the sunny side as needed. The...

Re: FBO plane towing
The adapters don't really look like they'd work very well for my plane, as they don't have the "shoulders" to clamp on the sides. Regardless, I'd still probably worry they wouldn't use them when I'm not there, or still bung something up considering how squirrely the nosewheel is pushing it...

FBO plane towing
I am wondering what experiences people have had with their DA40s being towed by FBOs. My 2007 XL has the big, non-standard towbar adapter holes, which work great with the supplied Diamond towbar, but are near useless with the typical smaller adapters. At many of the big airport FBOs, they always wan...
