Re: Flying Magazine Review of DA40 NG
Has anyone tried a slightly slower acceleration and not drag the right brake? Bring power to 1500 RPM, enough to get the plane moving, at about 10 KIAS, go to 2000 RPM, when at 20 KIAS go full throttle....
Or some variation of this?

Awesome. Curious what planes you had in the list as alternatives to the Bonanza?carym wrote:My cardiac issue was treated a couple of months ago and I have had no problems since so I am safe to fly again (I just got my BFR in a SR20).

Re: Please advise on a da62 purchase.
A bit of a thread drift... my instructor on the Extra400 transition training (he really was my first mentor) just died in a horrifying twin engine accident. It was a brand new Beach Baron. He was conducting a flight review with the owner and they were doing a one-engine-inop go around. The plane fl...

Re: Please advise on a da62 purchase.
I am just adding my vote to the go slow voices here. It is tempting to comb through performance numbers to find the right travelling solution. If your mission is to travel reliably in most weather, you will find yourself looking at very capable, pressurized turbo-props. But I don't know if any pilo...

Re: How to loose your cabin door or I learned about flying from that...
I check the FAA accident/incident website with some regularity. Having this door fly off is far from an unusual occurrence, showing up several times a year. But you won't find it in the NTSB site because it has so far always been a benign event. The door flies off without causing any more serious c...

I think you should submit that to the usual suspect magazines, Flying, AOPA, EAA Sport Aviation....
Well written, and definitely a good lesson.

Re: Musings on traffic detection
I also remember a conversation between a tower and someone arriving who did not have a transponder installed - and the airport was inside a Mode-C ring. Thought that required a special permit but alas no one seemed to raise the issue... Yep - seen that also. And cases where the aircraft was mode-C ...

Re: Please advise on a da62 purchase.
I was broke 4 years ago, because OLY athletes and hopefuls do not get paid and live on very little money. I've done well in real estate in the last few years and have great prospects looking forward, hence the airplane shopping. My thinking is this. Do I buy a cheap IFR platform airplane in the nex...

Re: Please advise on a da62 purchase.
The Piper PA-46 line would be the low cost turbine way to pull of the trip. If you go used, an older Meridian would likely need a stop west bound (range is roughly 1000nm miles). If you go new, and get the M600, you are looking at a range of 1600nm, this should handle the non-stop west bound at 260+...
